God yes.

Sweet I genuinely like.

Soldo is a dinosaur for mine. Would not be surprised if he is behind Dante already as 1st Ruck choice goes. He needs us playing 2 Rucks and to nail another role on the ground.
Right or wrong (and I lean to agreeing with you), I suspect the most likely outcome is Soldo starting round 1

Deficiencies that are of the coaches own making as he refused to play and develop young players in those positions while he gave a *load of games to cooked underperforming players in the same positions (see lycett / Jonas) and traded away young players in those positions as well.
100%. It's so annoying that so many Port supporters I talk to do not understand this.

It's fine that you think Soldo is a dinosaur and rate Sweet higher. It's genuinely insane that you therefore think the solution to this problem is to drop a Lord/Georgiades/Finlayson and play Soldo as a forward instead. If you think Soldo is too much of a dinosaur to even play ruck, how the **** do you think he's going to be a more effective forward than someone like Finlayson?

Unless Hinkley has gotten even dumber than usual over the break, Soldo plays #1 ruck or he doesn't play.

Neither have even played one pre season game for us yet.

I genuinely think Finlayson is one of the better second ruck/forwards in the game.

There should be no debate where or if he plays.

He didn't even get a game in the semi final last year and that was with Georgiades out injured. This year he has to contend with Georgiades, Dixon, Lord and Marshall for a forward line spot. At his best he plays but anything short of that and it could be a real weekly selection battle for him.

Finlayson played in the 2023 semi final no? Think he was a late in IIRC

That is just so wrong. Soldo will most certainly be #1 ruck round 1, unless injured

Soldo stacks up decently compared to other premier ruckman. Not sure why you think he's a Dinosaur

Notably he could get his hands on the ball more, but his Ruck stats are comparable to Gawn/Grundy

I'd be interested to see what he could produce as a No.1 ruck for 20+ games

And I'd be very surprised if PAFC aggressively poached soldo from Richmond knowing that he was already behind Dante? What would be the point of that? Especially as we got Sweet too.

Soldo/Sweet/Dante - 1st ruck

Finlayson 2nd ruck.

It’s as simple as that. If Finlayson is really stinking it up, then use Dixon.

But we can’t play Soldo, Sweet or Dante in the same team

For Finlayson to play at least one of Dixon, Marshall, Lord and Georgiades doesn't play.

I'm playing Finlayson ahead of all those guys except Marshall personally.

You are comparing Soldo as a sole ruck (from memory Nankervis was out injured when Soldo played) to Gawn and Grundy that shared the ruck role in the same team.

Finlayson for the first half pf last year was probably the first picked, but by seasons end he was the last picked. The gap between his best and worst was huge. He is a confidence player and he completely lost it in the last few rounds.

I don't see how that makes a difference.

Ruck Contest on average are comparable to Gawn/Grundy's. (around 50% give or take)

So i don't see why you couldn't compare him to either of them

The same could be said about all our key forwards. Of course form is a consideration.

But of all our forwards Finlayson was our best last year, even though his formed dipped later in the year.

I'd be surprised if Marshall and Dixon aren't picked every week barring injury or major form downturn. I think Finlayson, Georgiades and Lord are competing for two spots and any combination wouldn't surprise me.

i agree Marshall and Dixon are first picked. Despite the latter being contrary to popular belief, if he is fit he is getting picked.
