Not the person you were responding to, but I did some digging into the stats on rucks for comparison sake. This excludes all games where they weren't the clear number 1 ruck (including basically all games Gawn and Grundy played together) and any games they got subbed out in. 2023 stats only.

Soldo played WCE and HAW in two of these three matches. When up against Gawn in the third he was beaten in ruck and given a bath around the ground.

Unless Hinkley has gotten even dumber than usual over the break

Oh absolutely, any commentary on his form always comes with this asterisk.

Of course, but I was pissed off last year when he was clearly out of form, his head wasn't in the game and he truly was playing like he didn't want to be there - yet the Club kept picking him.

If you're making yourself available and are selected to play, any off field issues are simply not an excuse for poor performance.

Also the longer the year goes on Ken always goes back to default, ‘what he thinks should happen’….

Yep. He's actually reasonably good at identifying deficiencies in the scheme over the off season and putting together a plan to address them. But once the pressure is on later in the season he always reverts the team to type - both schematically and personnel wise.

Reading those figures suggests he's better than Lycett and Hayes who he replaces in the team. He is also better than Grundy and is only shaded by Gawn because of his superior field play.

A head coach uttering the words "finals are a bit scary" should be grounds for dismissal at any professional football club, let alone Port Adelaide.

It's your fücking job to lead and inspire the troops. Imagine how long a PM or opposition leader would last if he/she said "running the country is a bit scary, I reckon" in the lead up to an election.

100%. It shows a greater, seemingly endemic, problem at the club.

Sorry to intrude guys.. I come in peace

Where is Finlayson at? Will he be permanent forward now that Soldo is in?

Does he even make best 22?
That will depend on where his head is at. When he was "in the zone" on the football field for the first half of the year his impact was ridiculously good. Then he played well but finished badly at set shots. Then, at the end of the season, he got angry and "lost the plot". No-one here begrudges his decline but there could be a case made against his management. In a professional environment you would think a players mental health would be the foremost concern. But Port aren't Crusoe in that respect.

Certainly not something Jack Cahill would of ever said, he would have every player believing he was better than their direct opposition.

Doubt Williams will play if we go with 3 tall defenders. and I think they'll pick Burton ahead of him either way (non-football reasons). More likely to ask for a trade
Did you read any of the above messages? lol

Looks like he is moving into a more outside midfield role, so picking 3 key defenders has no impact on him.

Yea I read it. you posted the 'player x is set for a huge year' meme, then someone replied with another meme, and you took them seriously for some reason
