Green and Finn wrapped up before preseason games is so good, don't have to deal with any of the media speculation. HH and Ash the next two to get sorted.
At least Ash early would be nice.

So with Finn re-signing the 2021 draft class is a rare one for us with everyone of our draftees having signed at least one extension.
Pretty promising class so far, Fahey yet to play but I think there's a contributor there, Leek flashed a bit last year although KP player development can be tricky and Finn looks fantastic!

At the beginning of 2023, there were 20 players whose contract would expire this year. Fantastic news that we got Green AND Callaghan before the season even started! I really hope we get HH

The Giants have the equal most Victorians on their list among the eight non-Victorian clubs after adding five players from either Vic Metro or Vic Country through the 2022 off-season alone.

GWS have often faced a losing battle to retain Victorian talent and lost three midfielders to Victorian clubs last year, but new No.1 pick Aaron Cadman will lead their new charge of Victorians for the years to come.

A total of 11 players hail from New South Wales or the ACT to be considered as local products, while their SA and WA tally comes in at nine, split four and five respectively.

I think 3 of the 11 nsw/act players are from the ACT- Tom Green, Himmelberg and Josh Fahey?

Well ...

Harry's originally from Mangoplah - he relocated to Canberra I think when he was 17. Since that town's a bit out of Wagga Wagga - as is Narrandera (Matt Flynn) or Collingullie (Harry Perryman) - really HH is from NSW.

The other two you'd probably call Canberrans; although Fahey played for Queanbeyan Tigers and may well have lived in NSW, so possibly didn't consider himself "Canberran" (IDK - speculating).

But yes, those 3 have some linkage to Canberra.

Fair points. Note though that HH played for the Eastlake Demons, one of the bigger ACT AFL teams. Also based on his team bio, he moved to Canberra after finishing school.

Posted in another thread elsewhere in the main board but very interesting in terms of historical player movements. We are losing an average of 4 players every year (46 players in the 11 years of our existence) to other clubs, which unfortunately is the highest in the AFL. Unsurprisingly, the club we lost most of our players to was Carlton (11) thanks to Silvagni, with Essendon (7 players) being the next highest. Also no GWS players have left us for Sydney or Gold Coast. Conversely, no Essendon, Gold Coast, Norths or St Kilda players have ever left their club to come to us!

Well, Jake Stein to Gold Coast last off-season killed that stat.

Our stats are made worse by the extra list size we had for the first few years. In the end, it's an interesting historical stat, but people need to be able to delve into the details to understand it. (Which most won't.)

Fair point, and agree about the extra list size contributing to us losing more players to other clubs than normal. What I found interesting was that in our entire 11 year history, none of the 31 players that had joined us from other clubs were from Essendon, Gold Coast, Norths or St Kilda.

Yeah, I'll admit that I took it as direct movement to those clubs. If it's any journey to arrive there, then Jack Hombsch and Anthony Miles would qualify to Gold Coast, as well as Jacob Townsend.
Oh it would be focused on direct movement only. I just remembered Jacob finished up there.
