Do you have a link to the article? I can't find anything on Google or the AFL website. Not doubting you, just trying to find the article you referenced.
From the article below:

"For instance, it would have allowed Adelaide to list one of Rory Sloane or Taylor Walker as a veteran for 2024 and opened up another spot on their primary list. The idea was designed to keep veterans in the game without sacrificing a list spot that a youngster may have taken, with the veteran’s full payments still counted in the salary cap."

What would we have to give GCS to get Chol and 4?

I am assuming Chol comes as a salary dump so do we just add up our two second rounders plus another one we will get for Doedee or McAdam to handsomely exceed the 2034 points get for Pick 4.

That gives us Picks 4 and 9 plus Chol plus Hayward who we can probably get for McAdam and a future something in a three way trade with Sydney and Melbourne.

While I'm on a roll perhaps we can get Burgess plus chips for a whatever we get for McHenry or Himmelberg

And then there's Petty. Swap our nine and whatever we get for Himmelberg or McHenry or both with Sydney for Petty and 11

pick 4 does seem to be the priority to bring in Sanders or McKercher
Not worth 2x 1sts & 2nd though.

Would prefer to offer 2x 1sts to get q known gun midfielder not a maybe.

I'd be happy enough just with Chol and Hayward. Pick 4 would be good but only want to use this year's picks for it.
Yeah, I'm more concerned with bringing in solid experienced players to give the squad depth needed with out players leaving.

If we bring in the likes of Hayward, Choi & Burgess for McAdam, Himmelberg & Doedee... this gives us a decent squad to challenge for finals.

Reckon we are more of a chance to get the Bulldogs 1st rounder as part of them getting pick #4... which would give us 2 high picks.

Yep . you're on a roll :p

We have McHenry so many games and kept cook in the SANFL... Cook has so much more potential.
Cook looks like someone who plays better at a higher level.

Has the class, just a question of his desire. Shouldn't have been dropped after his 1 game imo.

Why give up pick 5 now when we won't have to next year? For Cox that is.

Because - on the off chance this has legs - I think there is a genuine case that adding Cox now could push us into being a big contender in 2024. After all, the game for next year is fixing our defense and this is a big upgrade on all of our key defenders. Not only that, but we've built a counter-attack identity and Cox should suit that to a tee being a reliable one-on-one player, strong aerially and a reliable field kick. Factor in that putting in very good players into the line-up is the quickest way to improve a sector and that our main defenders are young as well means this addition could have more bang-for-buck influence then just adding a really good player.

As to why we should push our chips to the table if he's available? The first reason is we need to be looking at making the most of Dawson as he looks every bit of that elite midfielder teams need to go deep. The other major one is the league is in a transitional phase at the moment. Plus, the elephant in the room is this does not look like a draft where we'll be able to fix our inside midfield issues - not in time to match up with Dawson at any rate. So if you were angling to begin an all-in push, honestly, it doesn't look like a bad place to start.

TBF .. right now if he wants to come here via a trade he's a spud .. and he if he agrees to come and a trade is made .. he'll be AA next year
True, a classic BigFootyism

I don’t mind Cox as a player at all, I just question whether his type and quality of player is worth giving up valuable draft collateral for this year, when he’s a FA next year

Looks like Hayward has rejected your advances and wants to remain at Sydney.
