I wasn’t that keen on Redman before, I’m completely sold on him now.
We need two midfielders and a ruck plus a defender. Our forward line is stacked. Five players short. Better than where we’ve been but still a while away
Is it worth looking at Harry Perryman as a ‘pre-agent’? Give away the NM 2nd for him? Stuck playing in defence for the Giants at the moment, but has shown previous good form in the middle. I reckon he could be useful in adding to our midfield options
FWIW we bid on him in his draft year

If we want him this year, we can probably afford to get him without paying up a first, but yeah getting him for free has its benefits too haha

No way in my opinion - he's in the genre of stat-padding, no hurt factor accumulator mids that the game has gone past. He's done.

I think we actually only need one other mid and one (or two) more small / medium forwards. Perhaps even one more tall forward.
Come 2 years time, none of Pedlar, Rash or Sog will be spending much time up forward.
McAdam can come back in as a mid sized fwd. Welsh will be on the list for 2025+.
But think of it this way, in 2025 Walker is unlikely to be there. Peds and Rash will be full time mids. And TT also likely to be spending more time in the midfield.
our midfield will look a hell of a lot better, but at the expense of our forward line.

I thought Yeo looked totally over it.
At his best he's a difference maker, shame his body seems to be too much of a wildcard these days
If we even out the midfield it has a double benefit in defence/attack. So I’m ok with weakening our forward line a bit.

Hawkins is nearly two years older than tex and is still going..
Tex is looking fitter than he ever has and looks like he has atleast two more years left in him..
He has Burgess working with him too..

Agreed, I think Tex still has 2024 and 2025 in him. By 2026 I'd be happy keeping Tex on as a 3rd forward behind Fog and Welsh, with TT monstering any position he chooses.
He is playing better than ever, moving freely, looking happy. If Buddy, Hawkins, Reiwoldt are anything to go by, Tex has 3 more years.

If we can get 2-3 more years out of Tex that would be awesome. Another 3 years would provide a 2 year overlap with Welsh.

If you look at COLL ...their Midfield isn't stacked; Crisp, Daicos, T.Mitchell, Adams, De Goey ....they have one FWD of note & one KPD of note ......but it's their gameplan & mindset that differentiates them from others
I do believe, we're a KPD and a MID short .....but each year we'll have 3 x Draft pricks to get those players ...."maybe" a FA
IMO we're in a good position ....with talent still developing in SANFL

Walker is definitely a year by year proposition, but next year is a certainty at this point barring a major injury or something. Looking at the older forwards in the AFL I think Hawkins probably has another year in him but Riewoldt and Franklin do not, so it depends a lot on the player. By the end of 2024 Fogarty will be 25 and should be around his peak, and Thilthorpe will be 22 and should be ready to be a full time forward if that's where we want him to play. Throw in Rankine and that's a potent forward line if in fact Walker retires. It should be pretty clear during that season if he's got another year in him or not.
