The dream scenario is getting both Hollands/Flanders. The likely scenario is that we miss out on Flanders, and pay overs to get Hollands (2 x 2nd round picks?).
If it was Geelong trading with GC:
OUT:
Pick 56
IN
Hollands, Flanders and pick 5

If it was us trading with GC:

OUT:
Pick 6, + North 2nd + our second

IN:
Hollands + a 4th round pick.

Might be a bit of a flyer, but if we are wanting an experienced KPP would it be worth taking a flyer on Tom McDonald?

As a forward he's fallen down the depth chart at Melbourne, especially now Van Rooyan has come on. But he played CHB at a high level for the first 5 or so years of his career from memory.

Still only 30, has finals experience, 195cm and 101kg. 1 year left on a contract in Victoria. Might be the kind of player that could be convinced to explore options based on playing time. Would be a lateral move, but might take the emphasis of KPD until Murray is back.
He's one that once he got a large Contract, after an outstanding year, 5 years ago .....did an Atkins & took life easy, put on weight

IMO plays for the money only .....hard no

Interesting take on Sloane by King .....Cornes is in the delist camp

1 min 15 sec in ...

The problem is I don't think many people here trust Nicks not to play Sloane if he's around.

Playing experienced players regardless of form is like a safety blanket for Nicks, at a certain point the only way to deal with it is to rip it off him.

You have two POV's on experience over youth

1. North Melb / Haw .....rip the bandaid, go to the bottom and stink it up

2. Get a balance of experience & youth .....be competitive .....youth learn from on-field leaders & playing games, where there's a winning chance

With all the picks NORTH have received, throw GCS in as well .....they're youth still fails to develop ....you can't develop youth, getting walloped every week

With players now getting to 50+ games .....the need for experienced players like Sloane is diminished .....the youth are creating their own culture now ......I'm talking 2024 ....was a different scenario in 2022

I understand that, but you're looking at it in a perfect world. In a perfect world we'd leave Sloane in the SANFL all year as a break glass guy for 2024 and he can help teach the guys. I don't think Nicks sees him in that role, I don't see Sloane seeing himself in that role and I don't see Nicks sitting Sloane if he has him at his disposal. That is the problem with keeping him.

We shall all find out soon enough ....we're all surmising what the List Management Committee are thinking

I wish our club had the balls that Port do when it comes to trading out "best 22" players. They seem much better at us at identifying when a player has reached their limit and cashing out for maximum value. I doubt they've ever regretted letting go of the likes of Polec, Wingard, Howard, and Ryder for first round picks.

They can be a bit scattergun when it comes to trading in players, it seems as often as not they just trade for anybody willing to go there. But as far as trading out players at peak value for draft capital, they're very good at getting the better end of the deal.
I think this is a genuinely good point. I thi Pport can be a bit desperate about who they bring in - some help, some don't - but they're excellent at trading players out and getting very good value for them.

I wonder if Sloane would stay at the club if we talked to him about delisting him and making him sanfl captain next year?

He still gets to stay involved with the club and keep playing footy

Seriously, if they get Sanders, pick 3 for McKay and are wedded on McKercher, we may as well trade out of this draft 1st round as there won't be any top end mids available at our pick. And then you have this garbage from journalists who think they know what we need

ADELAIDE CROWS

Draft picks: 6, 20, 24

List chasm: An intercept defender could be a priority for the Crows this off-season. No defender at the club has rated elite for intercept marks this season, while their No. 1 interceptor for several seasons, Tom Doedee, remains unsigned and could be on the move at season’s end. They picked up father-son gun Max Michalanney in last year’s draft, but the Norwood product’s biggest strength when he was drafted was his one-on-one defending. With Nick Murray to miss a lot of next season too, the Crows could target an interceptor.

Ideal draft prospects: If Daniel Curtin — a versatile 195cm prospect who reads the play and kicks the ball superbly — is off the board, Murray Bushrangers star Connor O’Sullivan would have to be considered. O’Sullivan started the year playing as a forward — with the odd midfield stint — but was recently named the Allies’ MVP after averaging 18 disposals and a competition-high eight marks during the champs playing primarily as a defender. Swan Districts’ Riley Hardeman has always been a strong rebounder, but scouts have been pleased to see his growth in confidence to come forward and intercept mark — which was the attribute needed to round off his game — while Sandringham duo Ollie Murphy and Archie Roberts could be other options. The cheeky option would be Hawthorn father-son prospect Will McCabe, who represented South Australia in the recent carnival. The Hawks will be keen to take key defender McCabe — who’s considered a late first-round prospect at this stage — but no doubt the Crows will be keeping close tabs on him.

I'm not 100% against getting a tall at our pick - but another first round key defender would be a bit triggering.

That’s why I refuse to answer. Because I personally wouldn’t even take a 2nd rounder for him - I watch all the SANFL games and finding an afl quality forward is tough. I personally think Adelaide need to move McAdam on and should play Gollant instead.
I like Gollant a lot - and we can probably only play one of him or McAdam - but McAdam does have another one wood with his defensive pressure. It's under-rated.

You can confidently say no he won’t based on what he’s said publicly to this point. Its sad that his total lack of awareness has me hoping that he leaves, he could learn a thing or two from the former North Captain.

I think there are other available key defenders at Melbourne you'd take first, but not a bad idea.

As Ziebell said, he has given everything for the club.
I think he is a classy individual

Exactly!

Would like to keep Sloane around for experience if we managed his games during the year... but we continue to play him every week despite showing several times during the year he was running in the spot.

Same can be said for younger players where we run them into the ground, rather than swapping them for another player when needing a break.

In many ways, Rachele should have been rested before his meltdown.

Would have been a huge asset tomorrow night.

Port will get a decent return for Georgiadis as well to help out
???..

he couldnt even get a run in the firsts.. then did his knee..

he’s barely worth a fouth rounder at this point.

and West coast, if they even want him, can simply grab him with their first PSD pick.

port would be far better off keeping him on minimum chips.. hoping he recovers well from his knee and can then start playing well enough to make their 22… even thats a long shot.

Yeah, depends where Georgiades chooses to play.

If he chooses West Coast, they can threaten the PSD for a cheaper trade deal.

Worth more than a 4th rounder though!

Port fans were claiming he was worth a top 5 pick last year 😂

West coast unlikely to want to help port after the rioli trade fiasco..hope they bend port right over and get him for nothing via psd
