Doedee, Hately, Crouch still might leave on his own accord, Sloane maybe, McAdam but I’d prefer to re-sign him

Send Hamill to the rookie list like we did last year with Moose, too

The list of un-signed is pretty thin now.

Crouch is playing himself into another year.

I would re-sign McAdam. Let Doedee explore FA.

Move on Hately, McPherson, Brown, Newchurch (Seedman, McAsey already gone).

Promote Borlase.

Hopefully Sloane retires, perhaps a move to the rookie list at best.

Put Hamill, Sholl on the trade table.
I believe Hamill will be retained ....having the pace off HB, as a backup for Milera, probably gets him another Contract

I can see Ned McHenry being traded, maybe at the request of the player

Doedee likely to stay

Borlaise I'm ambivalent about

Likely delist / trades
Hately
McPherson
Brown
Newchurch
Seedman
McAsey
McHenry

That's 7 .....6 actually, as Newchurch doesn't really count

Won't surprise me, if Brown gets another 1 year Contract

Brown/Seedsman count as one list spot, as do McAsey and Keane

So if only Hately and Ned (if he leave, that’s only two senior list outs

I don't think we will trade any in contract players so I think the movement will only come from this group.

My guess is we might only be offering McAdam say one year and he is trying to get a longer contract elsewhere.

The club would already know about the first four on that list but obviously a couple are going. Hateley is gone and possibly all the Rookies.

Contracted until end of 2023
Rory Sloane
Shane McAdam
Tom Doedee
Matthew Crouch
Jackson Hately
Tyler Brown (R)
Andrew McPherson (R)
James Borlase (R)
Tariek NewChurch(R)
Fischer McCasey inactive list
Paul Seedsman (R) Inactive List

I was just looking at our list situation. I can't see us bring in any more than 3 players and most likely less than that between draft and trade. Its obvious we're past the big list turnover stage and we'll be back to probably two or 3 newies a year, maybe 2 more if there is rookie list room but that's the max for a while.

Its hard to say what we'll do especially without knowing what we intend to do with Newchurch and Borlase and what the actual rules are for them as well. If they have to go on to the main list, we might do a bit of shuffling with say a Sloane or Himmelberg onto rookie list. Do these count as the list changes? Its also hard to know what to do without knowing exactly what Seedsman's doing but I think he'll retire. Dunno if that helps our list much since he's on inactive. I reckon McPherson will retire. McAsey's retired. Does this equate to our 3 compulsory list changes??

For the record, I also think we need to focus on bringing in freaks now. Players that can do stuff others just can't do. Players that even their team mates shake their heads in disbelief at seeing it and opponents are disheartened by them. A Tex or Eddie Betts with goal kicking. A Charlie Cameron with speed, a Joel Selwood with toughness, A Dangerfield with power, A Pendlebury with poise, etc, etc, running power, kicking ability, marking ability etc. We have enough of a list that looks like there's plenty of candidates to form the solid core. We have a couple of future freaks as well, Rankine and Rachele for example, Fog with goal kicking from set shots, Thilthorpe with ruckmen size and midfielder skill.

If we bring in 3 players, I want two potential freaks, Moir (kicking) and Philactides (speed) my two faves, but Goad as a freak athletic ruckman also an option. The other player, hopefully a Sanders or Hollands via trade, can be more solid rather than freak prospects, even take Stephens via trade since the latter two likely to settle for lower future salaries and less flight risk since they have an investment in Adelaide the club and location.

Most of those are rookies, so not particularly relevant.

Do Seedsman and McAsey count as 2 we can delist under the rules?

Then the minimum 1 other becomes a lot less squeezy

Yup. Both count, but it doesn't make life easier as we have since replaced both spots... and we just resigned one of said replacements.

Jeez. Our Key Backs really cant get a break. Surely we have a crack at someone this offseason, Zerk-Thatcher, Cox, Petty? all South Aussie

I don't think we do. We're not all in, yet.

It's probably a case of run Butts and Keane next year and get another budget depth option alongside retaining Borlase.

No understood, however the above options are still players 25 and under. Defence really is a stable in the modern game, and with the youthful defence we have, one elite addition could cement it for a long time. But again only an opinion.
