And why the fxxk do you think I’m “flying off the handle?”..

I’m sitting back two beers in all relaxed just responding to a few comments on here.. heart rates barely hitting 60..

just cause I‘ve spent my life on construction sites and use colourful language doesnt instantly mean I’m “flying off the handle”..
Give us one………… I love reading them😂

i think laird would be very effective as a forward if we chose to rotate him through there.
I can't think of many players less suited to being a forward in our side

The problem with picking the same 23 players each week is they drop off over the course of a season due to injuries, fatigue, etc. Even if they are better than the guys in the reserves, it's about managing your resources over a long season.

We saw the same thing happen in previous seasons where we fell away around the time of the bye.

We managed guys like Soligo, Pedlar, Thilthorpe and Max too late, whilst stupidly playing Sloane every game (ignoring his form for a minute - it's dumb to keep playing a 33 year old coming off a knee reco every single week) and even guys like ROB, Laird and Dawson started looking fatigued in the back half of the year.

We need to get rid of this Neil Craig era obsession with continuity.

Fair point. There are a number of comments on here regarding “Nicks 23-25” players that get all the game time and the rest of the squad is forgotten

I thought it would be good to do a comparison against the best rebuilds we have seen in the AFL era - albeit a while ago - with Geelong 2002-2003 before they played finals in 2004
And the Hawks 2005-2006 before they went and played finals in 2007.

Geelong 2002
7 played all games
19 more played greater than 10
6 more played between 4-9
37 players used

Geelong 2003
7 played all games
18 more played greater than 10
7 more played between 4-9
35 players used

Hawks 2005
2 played all games
23 more played greater than 10
5 more played between 4-9
38 players used

Hawks 2006
6 played all games
16 more played greater than 10
11 more played between 4-9
38 players used

Adelaide 2022
2 played all games
27 more played greater than 10
6 more played between 4-9
38 players used

Adelaide 2023
3 played all games
22 more played greater than 10
8 more played between 4-9
37 players used

So seems we are spread games between our squad as much as those teams did - and quite a bit more than the Cats did

Players often refer to getting games played together to help with cohesion - particularly forward and back.

I put this up purely to show this is what the industry tends to do - select their core group and try and get games into them together as quickly as they can

Whether they pick the right group is obviously up to debate for us

Yes Clam … but that wasn’t what we were discussing.

You said Laird was ordinary because his disposal was ineffective. My, and others, point is … that can’t be the reason because most of the best players in the Centre have poor disposal stats.

The only moron in this discussion is you.
No…

I said Laird gets lots of possessions..

I said Laird makes a lot of tackles.

But I said laird doesnt do a lot of damage to the opposition with those possessions.

You bewilderingly tried to compare laird to cripps by using statistics to make some crazy claim that laird is somehow his equal..

I simply pointed out how ridiculous this is..

So dont go trying to move the goal posts now.

Own it.

Mate, you ALWAYS do this

You try and twist the argument to make the other poster seem like they’re trying to directly compare one of our guys to a player at another club, when it’s just comparing one aspect of their game

Would anyone take Laird over Cripps from an overall perspective? Of course not. That doesn’t mean we can compare certain skills of theirs

Wonder if any clubs would want to move up to pick 9 in the draft for O'Sullivan or Wilson? Completely hypothetical but what if we swapped pick 9 for a F1 (of similar projected position)?

Trade that F1 or our F1 to suns along with 20, 23 for Pick 4. Maybe get an F3 back too (precious Welsh points).

It'd be nice to have a good ruck. Whether it's a priority is up for debate.
Yeah... but Grundy hasn't been a good ruck for ages. It's doubtful he'd even be an upgrade on ROB, and there's no way he's worth spending any trade collateral on.

Always !

It’s like why bother , the crows guy is always sh1t and the guy from the other club is always a gun

Unless it’s Fogarty …. Then it’s different as he’s the perfect combo of Barry robran and Gary Ablett senior

Suns need points this year for their academy players. They'd want pick 9 20 and 23 I'd think

Most probably not, but they are in with a chance and are still trying to bring players in to improve their shortcomings.

I've heard this self flagellation every year for a decade or more from our supporters about how Port 'do things the right way and have much better list' etc.

As it stands since both clubs inception 1 flag vs 2. And 2 GF appearances (Port) vs our 3 appearances.

Which is completely irrelevant to the point being made
