No!!

Clubs won’t take minimal picks because they’re happy with their lists

It’s being suggested clubs will take minimal picks because the draft class is very bad
Making it hard for them to replace all of their players with better ones?

Keays didn’t even make Brisbane’s 44 let alone their 22.
All the others you mention are SANFL players who won’t win you any games. There are better players in the SANFL, WAFL and VFL who would also be cheap and may have some upside - look how Callum Wilkie has progressed. The only reason they can’t all be replaced this year is that at some are contracted, not for their ability or future promise.

Are you suggesting no team has cut a player - only for that player to be picked up and performed well at another club? Cause that’s just foolish

I’m suggesting Keays was cut because of his deficiencies, which are still there, and Brisbane would have no regrets.
It was a response to the assertion that he would be first 22 in any other team including the Lions, which is foolish.

Doubt he gets drafted, SANFL I think is his ceiling. Athleticism at his 191cm?
I said last year the boys a cricketer. Lot of people disappointed he flirted with footy. Plenty of time for him though to get back on the right path

Our added talent from the last few years that should play midfield in the next couple of seasons… (in order of minutes to be played):

1. Dawson
2. Pedlar
3. Soligo
4. Rachele
5. Taylor
6. Rankine

Not bad.

Isn’t Dawson our big bodied mid? I mean he is a bit of an enigma, he is tough / hard at it AND quick out of the stoppage AND one of the best users in the AFL.

We have Laird and Crouch with great hands to get the ball out. Berry coming through in that mould.

Our forwards are stacked. Nuff said. With Welsh to add next year.

Our backs are looking better, Worrell - Murray - Michelanny - Hinge - Milera all heading on the up. Players like Butts and Keane and Borlase in the mix too. Another Max clone on his way.

Our wings have options like Jones, Cook, Nankervis … Smith.

Our ruck is something we could improve, Thilthorpe still does more in the ruck than most players his size - he doesn’t just try to win the tap, he tries to gain advantage. I’d love him to become our #1.

So in terms of list management, we surely aren’t looking for just depth, we haven’t played finals since 2017… We have great talent coming through, but I’d like to think we add some plug-and-play options now. Players of that middle age bracket that walk into our 22.

Always take another top line mid, 100%. Any out there we can offer overs for and nab? Like Brisbane have done with Cameron and Neale and Dunkley and Daniher.

Ruck? I dunno. I’m not sure Grundy has the desire, he is massively talented. Any ready to go options floating about?

Of course we look to the SA players like Luko and see a sliver of hope, but I’d love us to just get someone that wants to win a premiership … that is driven by that alone, rather than just “coming home”.

If we trade for established young players rather than draft capital, I’d like that more. Picking a young mid that won’t push out the young players we have for 3 or more years doesn’t add up for me.

Trading up our draft capital to complete a trade … that would be very non-AFC like.
Yeah I reckon our depth is actually good/ fine

That’s why our sanfl side is pretty good , probably in the top 5 or 6 of all the afl clubs

We need a couple A grade top end draft picks or blue chip players in draft / trade / FA to help top us off

Shouldn’t be using anything other than early picks in draft or trading for another elite player the next 2 years IMO

Keays was an AA U16 and AA U18 and AFL academy member etc etc

It’s not as if he was plucked from nowhere , he just took longer to find his feet at AFL level , it happens

He's lucky the crows took him otherwise his career was over and he would have been playing a state league. He's done well to get the most out of himself. His deficiencies are never going away but he has worked on his strengths. I'm not sure that he keeps his spot if we are challenging for a flag.

He was definitely fortunate he got a second chance , but then he took it

Not sure if posted already but SEN video I'm watching says Crows appear to be one of 4 clubs vying for Gold Coasts pick 4.
SEN commentators say Adelaide is behind the other three and can't see how we get ahead.

From my perspective it's clear Doedee compo, McAdam trade, future first and existing seconds are all chips that could trump GWS, Melbourne and Dogs.

I hope our list management team is putting a big contract in front of Mcluggage for the end of next year. Is out of contract end of 2024 and would be perfect for our midfield. Is on fire tonight
Now this is a player that would suit us to a tee !!!

In an after game interview this year someone asked Blakey if he saves money from not having to buy coat hangers
