Hello Dockers fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

Schultz must be the most underrated player even by Freo fans. Look at his stats (and I know stats aren't everything). As an all rounded small forward* he ranks 11th for goals 4th for disposals =1st for marks, 2nd for tackles. What else do you want? He is a top 10 small forward without the explosiveness of a Charlie Cameron that keeps in in shade. You couldn't name 10 small forwards that he is not better in at least area of the game and for most it would be two or three.

His loss is a huge blow.

* I didn't include Bolton or Heeney as they play significant midfield time.

He compared quite well to Kosi Pickett in terms of goals associated with, being goals kicked himself and goal assists, when I last checked on it.

He'll be All Australian in 2024 being the exact same player he was here with the exact same output playing in Victoria.

For the style we play he’s easily in the top 3.
Apart from Rankine or Toby G types that are more freakish smalls, I can’t really think of smalls that do the hard work as well as Schultz. Papley?

You can throw half a dozen names at me like Cameron, Stengle, Pickett etc, but they’re different types of smalls.

If SoS does what we fear - and trade out that pick they've just received to make something else happen , and give us the scraps, then I hope we walk him

Build some goodwill with hawks

Reckon it’s odds on - eg SOS will probably ask for something decent with Henry for it , then when we inevitably say no ….he ll then trade it , then cry on trade radio how much he tried/we re being unreasonable,

Absolute 🐍 of a person

What is your explanation for why Schultz hasn't been traded to Collingwood already then give Pies have held #19 and #33 for a couple of days now?
Few reasons.
1.Because of course freo are trying to get F1 instead of 19..
2. Because freo are trying to turn 33 into a player somewhere
3. Hutchy would be spewing because trade radio would have nothing to talk about

Schultz is a good player no doubt and will be a big loss, however he is not a bona fide star ( yet).

Cut him loose if we get a good deal and move on.

It kind of reminds me of that scene in Moneyball when all the old recruiters are talking about whether someone has a good body or not.

People (sadly a lot of them Fremantle fans) underrate him as he was mature aged, rookied etc. But if you take all that crap away and just look at output the last two years he is an elite, consistent small forward.

So average apparently that the premiers offer him good money on 4+1.

People stay in organizations if they are valued and I do wonder whether the disconnect between output and value for Lachie has fed into him leaving. Sad if that’s the case and a leadership failing.

He is leaving because of family reasons…. Freo wouldn’t even entertain the idea of trading him is it was for that.

Even freo don’t rate him that highly

He’s worth what over Collingwood give up for him because the trade will get done
The good thing about his free agent status is that we don't have to go through tortured, nebulous discussions where you look back at a bunch of previous trades to ascertain what Schultz is worth.

He's surely gonna be band 2 compensation. That's an end of first rounder. Collingwood happen to have a first rounder that's at the end of the first round and a future first that should also be at the back end of the first round. So to trade him a year early it's 1 of those firsts plus something else.

From all reports, both parties agree on all of the above, and it's a matter of negotiating what is "something else."

One player doesn’t make that big of a difference. Shultz is a role player, they’ll find someone to play in it.

Your making it out to sound like it Brayshaw serong or Darcy going
I agree Schultz is nothing special, but he's decent. And that's the same argument that was used about Logue, and Acres, and Lobb, and Cerra, and so on. It's the critical mass of decent players leaving.

We lost 5 players last year not 2.

Just think everyone is over reacting. Yes I’d rather have Shultz but he wants out so you move on. Find someone to play his role.

If Lobb stayed does Amiss kick 40 goals this season? Freo are better for the long term with some of the moves they have made.

With Schulz going they definitely know they need to draft a small forward so I stead of maybe taking a midfielder first they eye off someone like collard, Delean.

They will accept F1 next week which is still unders and doesn’t help us next year.
How do you no it won’t help us next year? Freo would have 3 F1 on draft night if the case they could easily trade in.

Or how do you no they aren’t working on trying to get someone in from another club now?

He would be band 2 if he has the same output for 2023 in 2024. If he improves and other suitors emerge, he might be on the way to band 1. Collingwood got him over the line in the shadows, if we hold him then every Vic club is on the phone with offers for the next 12 months.

Have a feeling that 2-3 hours behind the trade deadline, the trades will be ‘last minute’ and pushed through. Media surely have some sway in how this plays out. They want the views and intensity.
Believe that some trades have been confirmed or agreed, just going to be lodged in the final day to add to the intrigue

Let’s be real on this, family reasons are a small part and everyone knows it. It seems like he was always heading back at some point, the family thing is being used as a chip to downplay the biggest reason being upgraded Collingwood offer
