No compensation in that circumstance, not a free agent. But will become one for life after meaning we can lose him to another club without a trade the next time he is out of contract.

I’d rather just trade a future 4th tbh.

The way the draft is going 4th rounders will continue to get thrown around like they’re absolutely nothing. We’ll find a way to get another one in if we need it, which we won’t.

Besides the 4th round is about five picks long these days - a fifth rounder really isn’t much different.

Honestly wouldn’t surprise if the doedee compensation was so favourable to Adelaide as a peace offering from AFL to Adelaide over that goal umpire error.

That is my preferred outcome.

I am not so sure that an extra vacant list space for us to hold draft picks will be all that valuable - but if it facilitates us getting a top fifteen pick then I'll wear the contract issues that will come from Sharp being an unrestricted free agent.

I can only read it as setting up to settle for the Gresham band 2 compo (assuming it's confirmed shortly). Pick is already at 21 so it's pretty much spot on

If Fremantle play hard ball, could St Kilda see their first rounder into pick 20-30, even futures but it’s not that important for long term.
