So looking at it all. Most of Melbournes core midfield is around the same age, with not a lot of superstar level coming through.

They only trade Oliver if they can get pick 1. They can only get pick 1 if they can get pick 2. So that’s already 4 clubs involved.

They had Macdonald and Ben Brown. They’ve both plummeted in form.

Petty looked pretty amazing if he goes forward again, and JVR goes ok. They aren’t completely absent in tall talent. They have probably the best medium forward in the game too.

And a war chest of handy draft picks given their performance of recent years, especially if Oliver goes.

Agreed, and I personally wouldn't even want Oliver, but to temper any excitement think of what it'd take trade wise.

Melbourne would be asking for Amiss + F1 at least.

We wouldn't have any currency unless we moved Darcy or one of our other topliners.

If he's available you make a play for him, you have to do it.
