If Jackson can actually go full unicorn, we can keep Treacy and get McDonald in theory,
Being a unicorn doesn't mean he plays one position 100% of the time. Being a unicorn means you can play in any position and excel at it. Jacko is very dangerous in the forwardline and will only get better. I don't want to lose that just for the sake of fitting in L Mac.

I would prefer Hamling but our key defender depth list looks like this, probably in this order:
Brennan Cox, Alex Pearce [C], Luke Ryan [AA], [Joel Hamling was here], Hugh Davies, Josh Draper

That's before we start exploring the likes of Treacy back and Reidy forward.

I think I'd rather use that last pick on a player who could be something more for us than cover for a year or two.
You know what we're both missing from our KPD depth list?

That's exactly what I mean though, if he doesn't have to be in the forwardline when not in the ruck, he can play with the other 3.

Doesn't mean he can't be forward at times.

Melbourne team mates know Clayton Oliver is open to a move to Adelaide

I'm happy to be proven wrong but Schultz has me worried at the end of next year too, the annoying part is he can go freely if he wants
You and me both. We really ****ed ourselves over with that one. Played every single game the year we delisted him too.

Know he's quite close to Lobb and Acres and has a Melb gf too. So I expect him to end up back there soon enough.

I do as well! Recently watched Show Me The Money 2 and there has to be a reason he only signed for 2 Years when he was offered 4.
Doesn't the documentary indicate it was about him betting on himself to improve into a star and get a bigger contract in two years time?

I mean possibly but im still thinking it was keeping his options open to return home

Strong Luke Jackson only signing a year on his rookie contract vibes. But Sydney seem to be very good at keeping WA talent especially. I don't think L Mac will want to come home to us.

Man, Oliver, assuming not Hogan level ****ed will be incredible for Crows, exactly what they need as well with how poor their midfield is on paper.

Skies the limit for them next year.

I really don’t see how Melbourne get pick 1 through all this though, I’d have though WC need a top 5 pick (after bids / FA etc) pick. Will be interesting.

If we don't make finals I can see him leaving. He has gotten better and better. I would comfortably sign him for 3 years on decent money.

. Jeremy Sharp

A flank option from the Suns that could be an option in more ways than one. Once again from Western Australia, Sharp hasn't quite been able to break into the Suns' senior side this year so far. The out-of-favour utility could be the key to Fremantle, with Sharp able to fill multiple roles thanks to his versatility.
2021 was Sharp's best year, averaging 18.3 disposals per game and was able to free himself up from the contest to win a clearance for the Suns. Sharp has also been a strong marker of the ball, with the ability to make the right decision before disposing of it.

Sharp is a taller speed option, measuring 189cm and 81kg. He has commonly played as a half-back due to his height, run and marking abilities.

Justin Longmuir and his team at Fremantle have become a dangerous side in recent times, but 2023 is presenting as a year where weaknesses are opening up.

Fremantle recently lost a few key players, including Lachie Neale back in 2018, Adam Cerra to Carlton, Rory Lobb to the Bulldogs and Jesse Hogan to the Giants, to name a few. Whilst 2023 has yet to hit the same strides compared to last year, what can Fremantle do to boost themselves back into contention

Trey Ruscoe
The 21-year-old from Collingwood could be a bonus to the Dockers' defence to join the likes of Hayden Young, Luke Ryan and Alex Pearce.

The 193cm and 95kg medium defender could play suit the purple with the ability to create intercept opportunities whilst his key defenders clear the path for him to offer run from the defensive 50. His cleanliness by foot has also set him apart from others and could be the run-and-dash that Fremantle has lacked so far in 2023.

Ruscoe has recorded a career-best seven marks, eight pressure acts and three spoils in his one game for Collingwood in 2023. Having been born in Perth may also be the lure that the Dockers need.

FFS! I’ve been scrolling through this thread over the last couple of days reading every single post and trying to catch up to the end so that I could say in respond to the KPD list that Luke Jackson said in his pre-trade chat with JL that he reckons he could play key back … only to be pipped by a couple of hours by someone making an off the cuff crack about it!

I hereby vow not to read old posts ever again (this is not serious).

What was sweeter was I had been thinking about it ever since I posted it, and when I came back the thread had already circled back to Jackson being a unicorn - perfect segway!

If he's that good and everything was rosy off field, you've gotta ask yourself why would Melbourne be open to trading him?

We've already lost a dual Brownlow medallist for nothing.

yeah but Clayton ****ing Oliver.... legit top 5 player in the comp and he ain't 5.
