Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

Luke Ryan is a player I want to sign but he's also the player out of contract who I think we can both afford to lose and will get good compensation in trade for assuming he doesn't get poached by the team finishing last on the ladder.

Again, I want to sign him but if he is to take up another club's offer back in Melbourne then he is All Australian, Best & Fairest Winning Victorian Luke Ryan.

It looked like he was struggling for a role a bit in 2022 so I hope the coaches can find somewhere for him to slot in but he's the sort of player who will be noticed back east.

The KPF doesn't need to be elite. Someone at Tabs level is fine and maybe Treacy is that guy.

Listening to someone the other day (Wallsy I think) basically say that the Dees didn't really give Jackson a chance with their forward setup (it is ****house to watch) so we are hopeful his output might be half decent as a forward too.

Definitely need a small or medium forward he is a genuine 40-50 goal forward though. Sturt has it all to do and Doc only just got here.

I don't think we can criticize any teams forward structure.

Melbourne’s forward line failure cost them another flag - they were good enough elsewhere. They missed McDonald dearly and Brown is basically done. The ruck rover role we have in mind for Jackson was never going to work at Melbourne as Petracca is the best ruck rover in the game.

I think that between Sturt, Corbett and Emmet we can sort that medium forward role next year.

Wallsy probably shouldn't but I definitely can.

Melbourne's is dog****. Bomb it to the pocket where Gawn and Brown spoil each other and the ball goes out for a boundary throw. Great defensively but awful to watch.

The talent is there but whether any of them become quality AFL players is another thing.

I think he was underrated this year. He has a few flaws like bombing it long without thinking a lot too often. But he was important in a few of our wins.

What do you reckon we'd get for him? He'll be 27 in Feb so thinking even if he has a really good year no better than a future second. (But if he has a really good year we'll probably want to keep him)

He'd be a plug and play All Australian. Saad was 26 when traded for a top ten pick, I'd expect a late first or a swap of Ryan and a second for a better first. As I said, if the club offering him dollars is dead last it doesn't matter - he'd go for basically nothing like Logue.

Yep agree with you Lach.

It's tall and small forwards next year.

Mids, rucks, defenders all good.

Medium forwards pretty meh but there's a bunch to sort though on the list who we should find out about this year.

Any key forwards we should be keeping an eye on for next years draft??
Coen Livingstone from West Coast's NGA might be in our reach, Mitch Williams from East Perth is more of that Josh Corbett height but extremely talented and a natural goal kicker. Eli Alexander from West Perth had a couple of nice games but might need to do more to put his name on the radar, Luker Kentfield from Subiaco is pretty good too

Koltyn Tholstrup from Subi is really good but likely going top 10, and there's another van Rooyen boy who hasn't done much yet

I’m not seeing a late first for an uncontracted 27 year old, unless he has an exceptional year, but you never know. We have a fair bit of depth at the moment with defenders, and Ryan is the only guy I could see that we might be ok to lose and still offer trade capital.

Early indication is there will be a good amount of WA talent next year and I reckon we somehow get into the top 10 of the draft. I know it can be done somehow (possibly packaging together that future second from north).

Our NGA is in a pretty good spot next year, Mitch Edwards is the obvious one having already played state champs, will likely go first round so we might need to trade in a position to draft him

Jacob Whan made the u18 summer squad, he's a tall defender and one I'm a big fan of. Jett Sibosado is a nice midfielder who with a good year could put himself into ND considerations, has mostly played PSA at this point.

Couple of smokeys in Michael Panaia and Tamate Oakley, two small forwards who have already played some colts games and didn't look out of place, again would need a big year but worth keeping an eye on

Isaiah Hayden, son of Roger, is a pretty good general defender and I could see us taking him as a rookie

The club's comments on Draper indicate we see him more as KPD, even if a lot of his time has been as a KPF so far.
