Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

I thought I had gotten over giving up pick 1-3, but I am really not. I am still absolutely livid.
Not that it's much better but it's not going to be pick 1-3 with North, Hawks and WC who are going to get worse as the year gets on and move to actively tanking the 2nd half of the year

I think it's likely we come 15th but I entirely unconvinced we are actually better than any of them, especially with our draw.

We have yet to be anywhere near as bad as the worst that Hawks, North and WC have to offer, plus dont underestimate the effect of where you finish where people are playing for careers as opposed to "developing" a list. They'll be worse than us

How many players do we need to be a top 4 side in 4 years?
Current side
Dockers

B: B.Cox, <Full back>, H.Young
HB: Chapman , L.Ryan, J.Clark
C: J.Aish, C.Serong, M.Johnson
HF: <Forward/Mid> , L.Jackson, <3rd tall>
F: S.Switkowski, J.Amiss, <Fwd Pocket>
FOLL: S.Darcy, A.Brayshaw, N.Erasmus
I/C: S.Sturt, B.Walker, L.Schultz, N.O’Driscoll

Out: J.O’Meara, A.Pearce, N.Wilson, M.Walters due to age
Out: B.Banfield, E.Hughes, W.Brodie due to not being good enough for a top 4 side
in:Chapman (would play if not injured)

Luke Ryan, Aish would be 31 and would need to be replace shortly.

We badly need some class, but at least the depth is there. We just need to identify them better, and not over pay.

I am not going on a rant, about what could have been, but this side looks ok on paper. If we had not wasted the picks we had, it would have been a top 4 side
I think we are two elite players away from top 4.
Fyfe and Pav in their prime.
Or Harley Reid and Charlie Curnow.

Logue and our first round draft pick should have been enough to get Jackson last year.

Acres arguably BOG behind Curnow. Just don’t understand these list decisions.
Was Young in JL’s ear about Liam Henry? That he wanted out unless he plays? What a * up.

Been saying for years. . . Colin Young runs Fremantle. His business sponsors Fremantle, in return the club is generous to him and his players. The money just goes around in circles.

2 stars and we are close. They are hard to find with out hitting the draft.

This is the frustrating bit

Several points on Treacy.

1. His first year he showed he can clearly play at afl level. In the context of an first year KPF it was a performance far beyond any expectation.

2. KPFs that don't take 30-40 AFL games and 3+ seasons to be good are the exception not the rule.

3. We have effectively traded out of 2 drafts and KPFs are slow developing players traditionally. Either we try and develop Treacy or we give up on anything beyond Amiss and Jackson for the next 3-4 years (ie the peak age profile of the squad).

I tend to agree. We lack some marking power. Treacy and Corbett are priorities for the rest of the season.
Quite liked Treacy’s game for Peel today. Quite mobile.
Schultz Amiss Sonny
Sturt Treacy Corbett

Unless Longmuir is punted we’re bottom 4 next year too..should get some nice picks then.

only other way we get decent picks is if Darcy leaves…at the moment, I’d almost take it so Jackson has a more defined role. Reidy and Knobel can cover.
would Geelong give up Gold Coast’s first?

I really like Treacy he is a physical competitor but feel he's a bit overrated non here, lacks some of the finer skills and probably only a 50 50 chance to make it imo

I watched some of his work yesterday and wondered whether he could crash and bash in the midfield….he was actually quite clean and surprised me with his mobility. God knows we need a big body in there

Personally think we need Wingers, Half Forwards and a Key Forward to help Amiss. Bad thing is we have terrible picks to do it 😅

Freo aren't Trading Darcy

I hope we don't but we gotta somehow get some top end forward talent and quick. If somehow Naughton wanted to come home Id love to see how we could get it done without giving up someone like Darcy :/
