Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

Do you still go around claiming people should pay you for your writing? Take it from me, you need a professional editor. Some of it's good, but overall it's too needy, too many thesaurus words to make you proper money.

Will Brodie?

The reason Brodie isn’t getting a game is because we have to many inside midfielders and Brodie is neither quick or has a big tank, so can’t play on the wing. I think you will find that Sharp will be a very good pick up, but I was only pointing out that he has the necessary attributes to even try and succeed on a wing

Oh I agree, I'm very high on Sharp. I was replying to the other dude that said because Sharp can't get a game at Gold Coast, he "obviously can't play footy" (using Brodie as an example of someone that disproves that).

That's great that he's athletic, but he can't even get a game at Gold Coast so obviously can't play footy. Call me old fashioned, but I much prefer footy players over athletes.

Flanders another textbook example.

Remove Dew and overnight he’s gone from not getting a game to an all Australian level player.

Genuinely wonder if Hardwick will be Sharps ear about staying in light of this.

Most of those guys you listed were either playing a good amount of games for their prior teams or at least had good footy talent.

Sharp didnt even get a game this year. I'm not against getting Sharp at all but i dont want him for his athletic traits, id want him for his footy ability, which i havent heard much good press about.

Regarding Brodie, i'm a fan - i think we're a better team with him getting first use of the ball. we dont need him to be athletic when gives us first use of the ball which he did all 2022.

and if JL is so good at developing wingers, why in 4 years do we still not have 2 solid wingman? Acres was the only bonafied winger we've had and we didnt develop him.

Fun fact - in his second season as a 19 year old, he averaged 19 disposals a game and had a few games where he had 30+ disposals.

His VFL stats this year are also excellent

To be fair comparing Ollie Henry to Sharp is a bit of a stretch. Henry was a gun from day 1 and the pies were desperate not to lose him.

I watched many of those games and he was just ok in many. A couple of decent games. The fact is that he didn’t get a look in with Dew. Some said that was because he sooked and said he was going at the end of the year. Then didn’t get a look in with the replacement coach King either.

I’m happy for us to add him to the mix and he has potential to play some good wing football for us buts let’s not get carried away. He played 0 games in 2023. That is after playing 2 games (2020), 9 games (2021) and 9 games (2022).

The expectations of Sharp will match the price it costs to bring him in. If I were his motivational manager I would be encouraging him to make sure he won the time trial in preseason and was in outstanding physical condition because doing that will buy so much fan points he will be forgiven for his shortcomings and cheered like a brownlow medalist for the most routine of 55m long kicks to space that Amiss marks uncontested a metre ahead of his opponent.

Played a lot of VFL games. He’s a good runner and has the tools. I agree with Taylor that expectations from me will match the likely very low cost to trade him in. With Henry a winger gone is a no brainer. We have your developing wingers like NOD and Stanley. Sharp from what I’ve seen on par for a wing spot and in a battle (with NOD) for round 1. Stanley a little behind but very promising prospect for mine.

Others that can run through the wing are Michael Johnson and James Aish.

I bang on about this all the time. I think with Emmett in the team having Freddy on a wing becomes easier.

He played there in the last game. Emmett seems to have allowed us to push him up to the wing. Hopefully it continues next season, as a rotation at the very least
