Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

Ok dickhead
wow!
OK, I'll be the sacrificial anode, so all can hate me instead.
2017 pick 2 take LDU (support him properly those first difficult years)
split pick 5 take Naughton or Allen + another.
end result LDU, Naughton +
that would have been perfect.
better than Carlton picking Paddy D'oh.

Ok but what do we get after we trade LDU when he goes back to melbourne and who do we draft with those picks?

In any case Brayshaw is better IMO
These conversations change almost every year. One year ago there's no way we would've been discussing LDU over brayshaw. And a couple years ago Tim English was looking like a huge flop compared to Sean Darcy. Different players develop at different rate and there's up and down years. Brayshaw has had the better career so far (Players MVP at just 22 come on), LDU has had the better season.

I feel like the most accurate time to assess is when they reach free agency. Up until then it's just see-sawing between who had the better year.

I did like watching brayshaw run down LDU for htb twice in round 2. Felt like a nice little message from him.

Chayce Jones ooc at the end of the year. Possible value pick up for the wing? Is rapid.

Back on the subject of crows forwards, I don't mind the look of Lachlan Gollant - still only 21 and just has something about him. Can't get a regular game at the crows.
He is more of a 3rd tall, just traded in Corbett don’t think need another one

Definitely would've preferred gollant over Corbett but gollant would have cost more
I think if freo want a forward they should go after Shannon Neale

what I think freo will do is go after Georgiades. Ryan Daniels has dropped is name & his info is always pretty good

Georgiades is just the smoke screen for Naughton ;)

And has Neale even shown anything? isn't he more of a ruck?

Strictly in the last year of VFL football, round 3 last year to round 2 this year he has these stats:
15 games
34 goals (2.27 goals per game)
6 behinds
68 marks (4.5 marks per game)
68 hitouts (4.5 hitouts per game)

Looks to me like a tall forward that handles the ruck contest inside forward fifty. Geelong should really be preparing him to replace Hawkins.

Georgiadis has been leap frogged by Ollie lord at Alberton

(Or he is locked away with wce and port won't play him anymore)

Neale wouldn't get a game. Unless we are going Naughton or a legitimate elite marking KPF like Jeremy Cameron or something we should be targeting the 193cm guys. We are playing Jackson and Darcy, anyone who is a fwd/ruck is completely out as we will be too tall

I wouldn't consider a guy averaging one hitout per quarter a forward ruck, that's just the role of the tall in the forward line stoppages now. It's Neale's marking that should exclude him from calculations because talls also need to roam a bit when the ball isn't forward.

I’m disagree I think they need a taller forward like Neale. Amiss & Jackson can play both roles. but Neale would be handy & wouldn’t have to give a lot up

I think we like the forward structure we have with Amiss as a second tall and our resting ruck as our biggest tall. If we need an extra big man there's nothing stopping them from playing Treacy. If we bring in Neale it just means him and Treacy are maybe competing for a spot to be the number one reserve tall, and that's even if they decide to get rid of Taberner. I'd rather take a mature aged VFL role player with the later pick like we have with Ryan, Schultz, Switta etc

Who has a higher trade value, Shannon Neale or Josh Treacy?

Let's pretend that there isn't a location bias and both players play for the Melbourne CoffeeShops and are being traded to the Melbourne Trams and Melbourne Rainydays respectively.
Interesting one, would depend greatly on how their years go but Treacy not kicking a lot of goals at WAFL would count against him, even though he'll likely have played a lot more AFL games than Neale by the end of the year. The whole rookie vs main draft thing likely impacts value as well. In a vacuum, probably Neale IMO

Would be pretty close. Both be out of contract.

I still hope sharp is top of walls hit list. Still need a winger
