I'd burn a guy that looked like he'd take 15 minutes to do a 100-metre sprint too, to be fair.
You're being too kind to Hopper

I think those of us who don’t have Laird need to seriously consider taking advantage of the fall in value in round 4 - that 50 isn’t hanging around and with his long term consistency, it might be the best chance at getting on.

I have 80k in the bank and am seriously looking at turning Cunnington after round 2 to Laird after 3. 2x 125-130 score puts him in the 650k range.

Have got as a general plan (assuming poor performers remain poor, good performers remain good, and Laird bounces back)

Jones -> Michallaney
Cunnington -> Sav/Pedlar

Gives me near 400k

F.Greene -> anyone else (123k rookie who will play later sitting at F8) if needed for an extra 15-20k
Ashcroft -> Laird

Might be too much? But just thinking that I didn’t pick him hoping I could pick him at 630k later on (more in the Neale price range) and this could be as close as it gets.

Ashcroft I’m iffy on as I don’t consider JHF to be a winning pick last year, a 200k mid averaging low 60s isn’t going to cut it. Will obviously be patient if needed.
I think if he goes under 110 I’ll watch and see. 115 would be perfect to drop his price without making me nails at his form.

That would hurt us Laird owners ....allowing all the riff-raff to become owners .....many hearts would be broken if you advocate this

Please consider the children

No one is trading Laird in round 4 without tanking the rest of their team. He would need to stink it up big time to be affordable, and if he did why trade him in?

More likely he drops $40-50k (remember the 50 is only in one cycle) then stops.

Not happening. If Laird rebounds well from here on, he isn't gonna drop anywhere near enough to be a trade in target without wrecking your team and structure. If he doesn't rebound well then you are waiting longer than R4 for the drop.

No really if who you trade him to does well. Last year I traded Gawn>Witts after Round 1 and with the extra cash was able to upgrade a bad midpricer to a premo. If I had Laird which I don't but I would be tempted to trade Laird>Degoey and with the extra $240k your could trade Bruhn/Fyfe>Coniglio. Now Degoey might not be a Top 10 Midfiielder but he could end up a handy M8 by the end of the year if he can go at 105.

Absolutely, trading any player can be justified if you can make it work so that it improves the rest of your team. Opportunity cost is obviously always a factor though. Knowing the best option is only evident in hindsight. I would argue that there really is no 'rule book' to playing SC. Obviously following basic principles when trading is a good idea, but to think that any trade is off limits only serves to narrow your vision.

That said, playing the %s is often a very good option, but its thinking outside the box with trading, at least occasionally, that can really set your team apart from the rest. So no, im not going to suggest to anyone that a trade is completely off limits, but it is a decision of what you can do to make your entire team better and to realise the opportunity cost that exists in every scenario.

Bytel might be back?
I thought he might've been out for a few weeks, if that's true then I'll trade someone else but definitely want to be on Hollands before price changes. Should stay in the team and with the way he finds the footy and runs out games he should avoid the subs vest and have a few spike scores.
