yeh I'm torn between Caddy and Watson

if mckay leaves we get both

if he stays i also might slightly lean towards caddy but we can't go wrong either way

If we went Caddy then we could look at somebody like Delean with the Port pick. Flip side go for Watson and then get one of the drifting forwards (Moir, Reid) later.

Harley Reid is very difficult to judge I'm finding. He's obviously talented but he's big so is he dominating because he is just bigger than others?
What is his speed and endurance and skills like? Perhaps this might be a bit more clearer if he plays more in the middle.
But not sure we'd get a look at him anyway unless we tank against WCE and our % slides at a rate of knotts, which appears unlikely.
I'd be happy with any of Caddy, Watson or Duursma at pick 2. Hopefully one of them just screams I'm pick 2 come draft time because its a tough call.
Obviously if we get band 1 for McKay we could get two of those. Would we trade a future 1st to get a look at another top 5 pick or a salary dump trade?
We need a gun small forward but we also have Cooper, Hansen Jnr and George there to possibly come into the forward group so does it makes sense to pick another forward. Watson can probably play wing or half back perhaps so maybe that's not a issue because of his speed and skills.
If we take a Duursma, he's got nice size and skills but can he play half back/wing whilst he develops as he's probably not going to get many centre bounces.
If we take Caddy he could be developing away at VFL level whilst CCJ and Comben hold down the 2nd spot in the forward line for the next couple of years, so that'd be a nice pick. We could also use a Wilson type on the wings or half back.
Man so many issues to fix but which to prioritise is the difficult question. It may just come down to 1st round pick = take the best talent available.
That's kinda what the Hawks list manager has said. Also Sam Presti GM of OKC has said take the best talent and figure it out later.

My Updated Top 50 after getting to watch a few of the championship games. Still a lot to play out and I anticipate so of these players from 30 onwards may well fall outside the top 50, as there are a considerable numbers of players on the fringe.

I’m against Watson because I think we have bigger needs.

Yesterday we scored from 1/2 our F50 entries, which is great going. The problem is we can’t get it in our F50 enough.

Fix the back 6 and get better ball users and speed out of the back half and better ball use into the F50.
The problem is twofold, we can’t get it into our F50 enough as you say because of our at times sloppy and stagnant ball use (although other weeks have been much better) but just as big an issue is that backline teams waltz out of the forward line with next to no pressure so we don’t get the repeat inside 50s. One new recruit isn’t going to change that either mind you, a lot will come down to system implementation and drilling standards.

Pick 3 (McKay Compo) to GWS for 8, 10 and a player salary dump.

2, 8, 10, 18 and a GWS player.

2 - Watson
8 - Wilson
10 - O'Sullivan
18 - Philactides or Mature aged trade
GWS player
I know bugger all about O'Sullivan aside from analysts' write-ups, he might be an incredible prospect.

But an 85kg KPD doesn't sound particularly plug-n-play to me?

And if McKay goes, surely we need an viable replacement who can contribute from round 1.

I wonder whether WC would bite at pick 10 for Barrass.

If we went Caddy then we could look at somebody like Delean with the Port pick. Flip side go for Watson and then get one of the drifting forwards (Moir, Reid) later.
Agree

We are fine either way

Just need to do some combination of the above (KPP and small forward with our first 2 picks caddy/Watson and delean/Morris)

For hbf I’d trade a future second for an established hunter Clark or Lachie ash

Or draft Philactides
