WC give: 1
WC get: 2, 15, F2

From the WC perspective, this is essentially the same deal that North offered them? This makes no sense based on the understanding that the two clubs were too far apart to get the deal done.

I’m not opposed to 3 to 6-11 could combine 11 and 18 for cats pick 8 when Saunders doesn’t fall to them.

Otherwise keep offer on the table 2, 15 and 18 for 1.

Happy with current hand

In retrospect, we were a little unlucky that the Bulldogs had Jordan Croft available this year. It meant that they could overpay for the Suns pick and in turn meant our AFL assistance package couldn't be used to full advantage.

If we had the Suns pick, I think the trade with Melbourne would be much more easier to make. We'd then have 2, 5, 6 & 11. I'd prefer this as I don't think our current pick 3 is an obvious choice at all.

Fox Footy draft guru Mick Ablett urged the Roos to be more bold and make a “line in the sand” as a club and go all-in on Pick 1.

“North Melbourne will know this – they’ve got to find a way to get two picks inside the top 10 for the West Coast Eagles to seriously consider it,” Ablett said on the Fox Footy podcast.

“I’d say those two picks would have to be moreso in the front half of the top 10 rather than something towards the back-end.

“In saying this, I think the Kangaroos have a decision to make a decision as well – it’s time for them to draw a line in the sand and go really hard and say: ‘We want Harley Reid. We know he’s a generational talent and the best player in this draft, we want him and here’s what we’re going to do’.

“Do you potentially give up slightly overs to get him? Maybe you do. At some stage that footy club has to draw a line in the sand and show the footy world and their supporters that they’re fair dinkum and are going to go hard after what they want.”

I got told to stop for posting this hypothetical lol. I wouldn't do pick 2, only 3 for 6 and 11 if we wanted Curtin/Caddy and Leake/Windsor/Wilson but I think we should hold 2 and 3 and try trade up to 7/8 on draft night perhaps. I suspect that won't pan out on draft night as GWS and Cats will want to keep the elite picks and we'll just go with our 5 or 6 picks.
