Clarko and Viney are very, very tight together. Clarko hired Viney. They're good mates.

I doubt there's a disconnect there.
So were Ratts and Clarko but that’s another story.

If (and that’s an if) Clarkson is trying to override decisions made by the recruiters, it is a Viney issue, not a Rawlings issue. Viney oversees everything and is responsible for ensuring each do their own role.

Trade the F1.

Mid-heavy draft next year and Curtin or O'Sullivan are just what we need.

Line in the sand time. Send the statement that we will improve next year.
Or just don’t take a mid in this draft with our high picks

Next years high end mids looks impressive

On a serious note, if we think the pool next year is going to be mostly mids around our pick and it would have less value in terms of trade value next year, then perhaps cashing it in this year to fill a need is prudent. For a club that needs good quality mids, it would have more value to them than it would to us.

We’ve got 5 of the first 18 and people wanna trade our future first to grab another one. Some of you are insatiable.
l'm only for using our F1st if the Wet Toast go after Melbourne or GWS pick to get Curtin...If we take Curtin at #3 then Duursma will get picked up by the dawks leaving Bulldogs to pick either Watson or Sanders which willl leave either Sanders,Watson or Windsor for the Dees pick..If GWS pick Sanders or Caddy then its no point going after the Cats pick as they will want Caddy. So we will keep our picks...

Curtin is going to go top 7.My question can we settle on someone with our later picks who could be as good in 6/12 months?

We very well may find a way to trade in to take Curtin but all I can say to you is one of the ITK's I trust above any other I have ever seen or known has called it at McKercher and Duursma. Unless something nuts happens that is where it will lay.

Oh no, don't get me wrong; I wasn't suggesting Clarko was going to over-rule Rawlings and take Curtin at 2/3.

Just pushing back a little on the notion that there could be a disconnect between Clarko and Viney.

And they want to keep over paying for them. Time for our recruiters to earn their keep. Shit, they have got a dream hand as it is.

imagine trying to snare 5 quality prospects with picks 2, 20, 38, 56 & 74?

Yeah, I won't buy that either so I'm with you there. The one thing we've done is present a unified front. Our guys are solid (finally).

Who would you take chubbs at each pick?

Keen to see your draft/talent nous or lack thereof

I’ve had my choices set for awhile for all picks while most flip flop in theirs
I'm no draft expert but I haven't seen any draft expert or mock draft have Philactides in the top 30. This year is trickier because there are so many different types in the top 8. Last year I wanted Sheezel the most, then Wardlaw. If not Wardlaw, rated Humphrey or Phillipou over Tsatas (kicking a bit poor).

2 - McKercher
3 - Duursma (fine with Curtin too)
15 - Wilson/Hardemann/Collard
17 - M Edwards/Goad
18- Dawson/Shoenmaker/Morris
57 - Freijah/Philactides/Johnston

I wouldn't be shocked if there's a disconnect between Clarko/Viney and Rawlings.

Rawlings is not one of Clarko/Viney's guys.

Not saying there is one, or that I believe reports of one. Just saying if that were proven true, I wouldn't be shocked.

Rawlings and Thursfield are answerable to Viney. I think Brady cops a fair bit of premature grief but that's neither here nor there. I tend to believe they're all working to the same goal.

Which would make a lot of sense because the only evidence of it is clickbait rubbish and Clarkson meeting with Curtin who we could easily trade to grab if we really wanted him.

Brady himself when interviewed said they all work as a team to set the target list and priorities.

This narrative is nothing more than that - a narrative perpetuated by the media.

I would be very surprised.

That’s my thoughts on it anyhow

As others have pointed out, I don't think the article is much more than trying to scare the Eagles into thinking Curtin won't make it to the GWS pick.

The Hawks did the same, as they stand to land Duursma should Curtin go in the top three.

It's a long shot, but you never know. The Eagles obviously have a strong interest if they are willing to risk next year's pick one. I'll give the club points for creativity for coming up with the Clarkson going rogue element.
