I’m still hoping we keep all 5 picks. Can’t go wrong with picks 2 & 3. Then we plug 3 holes with 15, 17 & 18 if they chose to do so. Plenty of ruckman and rebounding defenders at that range. Plus A.Reid might be a consideration as a tall forward? Doesn‘t seem to be any key backs though unless we reach for Schoenmaker? Clarko would love him with that big raking left foot.
It’s weird isn’t it. We are almost, and I’m guilty of this too, treating picks 15,17 and 18 like they are nothin picks, but we are talking top 20 kids in the country.
I see saw back and forth on trading for Reid and I think the WC flogs ambivalence towards them almost make you believe there won’t be some absolute champions come out of the teens in this draft.
I def don’t want us to give 2 of them up, PLUS pick 2. That’s carnage IMO.
I have stated this a couple times, I think, but I’m not convinced WC will keep the pick and if they do they really want McKercher. We shouldn’t buckle.
There is also the possibility that this whole thing has been stage managed by the AFL and West Coast are gunna trade Reid to us and we help their draft hand as well.

Yep, losing 2 late first round picks to move up 1 spot would be a ***king disaster.

Sounds like you need to take 3 picks into the draft? If that’s correct, does this increase the likelihood of GEE looking to split P8?
They talked about this on Trade Radio the other day.

It's no longer the case that you have to take 3 picks.

GCS took 1 pick last year. Bailey Humphrey.

That's why you don't hand over 15 17 18

The problem is most of those late picks are irrelevant as there was less impact from academy picks, free agency etc. 15 and 18 aren't going to be 15 and 18, they're going to be 19 and 22 at best (depending on where the Hawks kid comes in). I can accept 15 holding don't trade value but 17 and 18 are definitely tradeable assets.

Ignore the academy picks they don't count

2 and 15 is more than enough for 1.
Really hoping we don’t even offer 2 and offer 3 instead.
WC want Mckercher and I’m not convinced they don’t just take him at 1.
Don’t overpay Brady.
I wouldn’t budge from 3 and 15 for now until draft night.
3 and 18 is more than enough

They do though, when comparing to historical picks. And even then they do because they are in every phantom draft or ranking list. There could be 5 players taken before 15 if we're unlucky.

A bit more watching and stuff it, im going all in on Sanders now.
Anyone interested should watch the vid below. A few points of interest
  • 1.20 Cant tell me that isnt a JHF move right there. Strong legs turns on a dime.
  • 2.05 Question marks over his burst speed? Gotta be kidding me.
  • Watch the numerous kicks to a teammates advantage.
  • Footy IQ easy to see
  • And perhaps his biggest weapon, the kid is an absolute one touch player. Not sure ive seen better tbh.
Gimme Sanders + Duursma and ill be stoked. Then 17 and 18 (2010pts) for pick 7(1644) or 8(1551) for one of O'Sullivan, Curtin, Caddy or even Watson if he slides.
2,3, 7/8 and 15

Edit: Btw i could live with taking both Sanders and McKercher. But team balance wise the utility of Duursma seems a prefect fit. The way the game is going these sorts may well become the most sort after.

Looks very much like Will Ashcroft

I'd rather use 2,3 and listen to calls on the others on draft night. Could probably field offers of a downgrade + future 1st or 2nd which would allow us to build a mini version of the Giants model. For awhile they constantly had future picks up their sleeve, which make getting solid players like Logue, Tucker, Fisher and Stephens easy.

I think if we are really that sold on Reid being head and shoulders above the rest the deal to unlock this is:
North get: 1 & 6
WCE get: 3, 11 & 18
Melbourne get: 2

North give: 2, 3 & 18
WCE give: 1
Melbourne give: 6 & 11.

We get Reid and can get one of Sanders, O'Sullivan or Watson you'd think, Melbourne get the quality they are after - they do not need quantity of picks & WCE get Curtin and the volume of picks they need. Plus we can still package 15 & 17 together to get up the order if theres a player we are keen on around the 10 mark.

Don't hate it.

Reid & O'Sullivan vs McKercher & Curtin. Plus we keep picks 15, 17.

I'm content to take the club at their word, they're going to draft two of the top three. There's ways to work with the Eagles if one of those is Reid.

Now if the Demons are really gung ho on who can really only be Duursma (linked to us and the Hawks) or Watson (Dogs) then they have a lot to work with. Does 6 and 11 do it? Probably should but we clearly have our own targets in mind. Spargo or a death ride of F1 on top? Now that's tasty. How content are they with picking at 6?

I think when people are saying O'Sullivan at 8, Leake at 15 etc, they aren't taking academy and father son picks into account. We pretend those players don't exist because we don't even pretend they are an option.

They don't exist

Ignore them

The number is irrelevant

Look at the players ignoring the gold coast Bulldogs Hawthorn f/s picks

There is quality at 15 17 18

Well all I can say is if the club thinks like you do then they will be drafting there.
