Pies & Carlton both responsible for poaching GWS players since their inclusion into the comp. In fact a number of players in their squads will be ex GWS players who will no doubt be intimidated by some of their ex team mates.

Agreed, if the AFL insist on having a bye then have it pre-gf. They will in turn argue that the bye has made the finals series more exciting. They're not going to back out of it, not when teams with huge followings like Carlton make their way deep into Sept because of it

Briggs gets talked about a lot in fairness to him, going to be a big watch on how he pulls up with his knee.

I think Carlton have been fortunate to have come across two teams who couldn't kick a goal to save themselves. Next week will be a greater challenge, that if they give Lions the same chances will come back to bite them ion the bum. I think next week will be the reckoning for Blues. I am tipping Lions by 10, if they kick straight.

Giants are in top form. First they dismantled Saints. Then Port. Next week they play Pies. People say giants and Pies play a similar game. They play the Richmond frenetic, get the ball on at all costs game. But there is a difference. With the Giants if they turn it over they back up and their mids get back or the defence destroys you. But Pies on the other hand, they give you a chance on every turnover and if you use the ball well you cut their defence out of the equation. Their mids do not fold back quick enough and sometimes not at all if they lose the ball. They can be exposed pretty badly. Dees exposed them after quarter time again and again but could not buy a goal. I think Giants get it done by about 30 points.

A Lions v Giants GF for me. These are the two really in form teams. The AFL will try to get Pies over the line but I think the Giants have far too much structure in place for the Pies. The Pies have a problem in the ruck and if you don't give Moore & Murphy what they want, the long bomb to intercept, they are loose as a goose. Their best player back there is Maynard anyway but Greene plays him very well. He'll play rope a dope on Maynard all day and he'll fall for it. Bobby Hill won't get the room he did against Dees. I think when Ash goes to him he is going to realise he is being taken by a bloke just as quick and elusive. He will have to play both ways all of a sudden, not his strong point.

When Briggs left the field was when Port got their goals. As soon as he returned the status quo returned. Giants pulled away again.

It would be equally bad if it was a boy instead of a girl? A staffer who is doing nothing wrong shouldn't be berated by a player just because he's competitive and under pressure. Have a listen to any one of John Longmire's billion interviews where he talks about how important off-field staff and volunteers are for making the game better. Right across the field in the same position would be a Port staffer doing the exact same thing, ready to help Butters and make his job a little bit easier if he needed it.

And btw, he didn't have every right to clear the space because he was being a little shit and trying to open up the angle which wasn't allowed. The reason the girl didn't move is because she could see the umpire telling Butters to move back the OTHER way while he was having his hissy fit. He needed to move away from her, not the other way round.

If Dees had kicked straight after quarter time and kicked the ball in rather than bomb they would have killed Pies with the amount of entries they had. GWs are not going to make the same mistake. Not only that GWS, even though they play a similar game, are different. The Pies give you a chance. If they turn it over their mids are slow to get back, or just slow. Whereas if GWS turn it over their mids run back, intercept and their defence moves forward and intercepts, even the pass. Defensively, GWS are far superior all over the ground. Offensively, they are too. I can't see Pies winning against them. Ash will go to Hill & suddenly Bobby has a player who is as fast if not faster and can lock down. Greene has Maynard covered and will play rope a dope with him all day and win. Giants can kick 100 points very regularly. Pies struggle against good defensive units.

Yep exactly, I can't remember too many other players carrying on like twats as Butters did last night. I've seen plenty move chairs and clear the space, but not throw it and act like a w***er as he did.
