Complete nonsense. All QBs are held to high standards regardless of skin colour or what is happening with their parents. CJ Stroud's old man is in jail for 38 years for example, yet he could go number 1 this year.

It took me until reading the comments to understand what people were upset about. Did he even mention race once?

Twitter: Everything is about race!

Carson should go to whoever is stupid enough to draft Richardson in first round cause he is 2 years away from starting in nfl. So atleast he get to play maybe turn his career around

They've been doing this for a while now iirc, it'll get up sooner or later.

Rubbish proposal that’ll will favour pass heavy teams over grind it out teams. Can’t believe they’d even consider it

At least make it worthwhile, 4th and 25 or 30 and the line of scrimmage is your own 5 yard line.

Yeah but let's open the door for even more situations that allow officials to influence games.

This would be funnier if it wasn’t more evidence of how completely in over their heads this organization’s leadership is

Commanders released DB Bobby McCain.

McCain's release saves the team $4.42 million, with ESPN's Adam Schefter reporting that McCain was the "odd man out" with the Commanders having young talent in the secondary. McCain signed a two-year contract with the Commanders in 2022 but will play elsewhere in 2023. McCain is entering his age-30 season but should be able to find a role on another squad.

Commanders head coach Ron Rivera said Sam Howell is "not our starter" but will begin the offseason as the team's No. 1 quarterback.

Confusing, we know. Fresh off releasing Carson Wentz, Washington will look to add at least one veteran quarterback to compete with Howell, who won a Week 18 start against Dallas while completing 11 of 19 attempts for 169 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Howell, a mobile QB who often used his speed at North Carolina, will have every chance to start the season under center for the Commanders. He'll have some fantasy appeal in superflex formats.

Browns released S John Johnson.

Johnson should have a market in what projects as a somewhat deep safety free agent class. He played a big role in Cleveland's issues dealing with the run in 2022, but has a better history as a tackler than that. Johnson turned 27 in December and the lack of compensation attached to him and his track record probably says he'll get a multi-year deal.

Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones said he expects LT Tyron Smith back.

He did not rule out a contract reworking. It was rumored that the Cowboys were considering moving on from Smith, who has played just 17 games in the last three seasons. Jones' words were that "you can't have enough of these [tackles]." Smith will probably have to rework his contract to come back, but the Cowboys do seem to feel like he's part of their plan in 2023.

Packers GM Brian Gutekunst said he'd "absolutely" be comfortable if Jordan Love starts for the Packers in Week 1.

“I think he’s ready to play and I think he’s ready to be an NFL starting quarterback. Not every quarterback comes into this league ready to go out there and play. I think he needed a little time, but over the last year and a half or so, we’ve seen that’s the next step in his progression. He needs to go out and play," Gutenkunst elaborated. It's been suggested by Matt Schneidman that Love could ask for a trade if Aaron Rodgers returns to the Packers. The delicate tight-rope walk of non-committal by Gutekunst is probably about not stepping on Love's toes as much as it is leaving things open for Rodgers to return.
