Could always throw McStay down back as lose man to take some intercept marks.
Someone want to break the news to our old friend here tonight before I do

I think that player is Jack Payne, but task now is to feed him mongrel sandwiches before the season starts. He a great size and shape to play on the biggest forwards. Got some speed too. He just needs to realise just how good he could be.
Needs boxing training. Looks like Tarzan and.. ........

Thanks, love the pics.

Really excited to see Bailey looking in great nick, I think he was in the top 5 in the time trial as well.

While I’d love to see Rayner play more in the middle I reckon Bailey’s the guy who could make massive difference to our midfield.

As others have mentioned, the Adams news although expected is still sad, once the decision was made.
We may not see him play again. I think he is out of contract this year.

I hope the club will ask a few other players to train with them other than just Joyce

Just looking our current incumbents, who could play in the backs and have some size.

Berry: I’d say yes but unlikely as we would lose an important wing.

Rayner: unlikely, needs to play more forward time.

Prior: I think would be a good option. I think he may struggle to be in the 22 if he aims for midfield or wing.

Payne: the obvious replacement. Needs more mongrel though.

Michael’s and McKenna also in the hunt.

I wish Adams all the best in whatever happens from now. He will be sorely missed.

So glad Adams has made his decision. All the very best of luck to him.

The big 4 down back was a real strength for us, Andrews, Gardiner, Adams n Payne. Lose Adams and now we find ourselves a little insecure in a vital area of the game.

Joyce is a good choice as a right now replacement for Adams. He is better depth than Fullerton, and can certainly play a role when needed.

I think Phillips is a better long term option. Better than good depth now, but could find a long term career here. I can see Andrews, Payne n Phillips holding down the Fort in 3-4yrs. Joyce may have the same ability, I don't know, I just hope we're thinking long term.

If we are looking short term, a season or 2 for a mature big body, I'd actually be OK with Josh Walker and I'll throw Oscar MacDonald into the mix. He'd be more than capable depth. He has signed on to play Vfl so should be fit.

We have plenty of sm/med defenders, we've gotta get a tall. Surely.

Maybe the club are privately trialling candidates internally at the club, like Buzza, Greene and/or Arnold.

Other posters more informed about the SSP can correct me if i am wrong.

To be eligible
You need to have nominated for the recent draft.
Edit-Or you have to previously been on an AFL list.
You have to have a vacant rookie spot on your club list.
A spot can be created by moving a retired or injured player on to the inactive list.

Clubs can have up to 6 players trialing at the club.
......
Regarding the rookie spot
I am not sure, but maybe we will have to promote a rookie to the senior list first to create a spot?

So, regarding Buzza, Green & Arnold.
Buzza has been on the Cats AFL list, don't believe Green & Arnold have but not sure.
Also, i have no idea if those two nominated for the draft.

You do NOT have to have been on an AFL list before.

Every year a few kids who missed out on being drafted train with teams for a SSP spot.

Sydney Stack was the first kid, as an example.
