Looks like Joyce might be having a run around in Marcus Adams number again.
Absolute idiot; rode my bike from West End. Forgot it was 30+ and that I had beers at lunch 🤦 Anyhoo, sitting smack bang on centre wing in a high vis top and a blue hat. Anyone around feel free to come say g'day.

Daniher definitely out there for the "ones".

You're braver than me G17, lot of heavy traffic between West End and Stafford. I've nearly been killed a couple of times on my bike, try to stick to designated bikeways/bike lanes now, if I feel unsafe I go with my gut and go the footpath route.

Safe cycling.🚴‍♂️

Absolutely, yes always use the bike paths, even if it takes a bit longer.

I spent 3 years riding in Sydney and funnily enough I generally felt safer on the roads than on the footpaths. Cars are at least predictable most of the time. Pedestrians on the other hand...!

Started off with each of the two teams splitting off to each end the of the ground and each playing a half field game of forwards v backs. The ones' delivery inside 50 was atrocious. Getting all the crap out of the way in February by the look 🤪

Or maybe we simply defended really well 🤷

Interesting to note that it was nearly always Wilmot tasked with the "quarterback" role of initiating the play and forward movement from the centre line.

For those not in Brisbane
The BOM temperature at 4.30pm is 30.8 C with apparent temperature of 35.6 C
i am not at the session today but that is uncomfortable conditions for footy.
Yeah it's bloody humid also.

Big shock - they're starting later than advertised. Still, at least it lets people gets there, who may not have been able to. Suffer in your jocks the diehards that got there for the start of training.

Also, wouldn't put too much stock in the guys rotating through the ones. Was a wonderful array of guys floating through the first team that didn't feature much during the season.

Q1

Apologies I don't know all the red players by sight. After an even start maroon started to exert their authority in terms of both class and probably also work rate. No replay screen so the below may or may not be 100% accurate! Red affording maroon players much more time and space. Helps I guess when you dominate centre clearances.

3:00 Mark and goal to McCarthy from 45 after a nice uncontested transition down the right wing from defence 6-0
3:30 Point to red (didn't see who). Hurried snap around the body from 35 6-1
6:00 Hipwood covering plenty of ground marks at half forward before kicking to a contest favouring Daniher at the back who marks 20 out and converts 12-1
8:00 21 red marks opposed to Andrews and slots one from 45 12-7
9:30 Hipwood marks a great centreing pass overhead and kicks truly from 40 18-7
11:30 red make an absolute mess of a clearance from defence and it all happened so fast I missed what happened! Goal to maroon 24-7
14:00 rushed behind (?) to maroon 25-7
14:30 Sharp sharks a throw in superbly but grubbers it into the post 26-7
17:30 Starce takes a great contested mark on the last line of defence
18:00 maroon go end to end and it finishes to with McCarthy who snaps a pretty easy goal from 30 32-7
21:00 Dev finds McCarthy in the pocket who finds Bailey further in the pocket who finds Sharp slightly infield. His set shot misses 33-7
22:00 Joe doing Joe things. Spills 2 contested marks then roves one of them but puts it into the behind post.
22:30 huge spoil from Andrews thwarts a certain score for red
24:00 both teams now being forced to play a bit more stop start play. Not a lot of run out there late in the quarter.
25:30 siren. Maroon lead 33-7

Other than the outs, it is very much a probables against a VFL team and it looks that way too.

Not sure if it is the influence of Jack Gunston in the forward line but there seems to be a real focus on shorter kicks into the forward line to a leading player.
Could also be that they are playing a VFL team with a lot of top ups

Not sure how long I'll keep this up for but anyhoo

Q2

Red out of their huddle much earlier than maroon

1:30 With not much space Neale pinpoints the leading Bailey, who nails his set shot from 35 39-7
4:30 lace out pass from Jack in the middle of the ground onto the chest of a leading Hipwood. Nails his set shot from 50 on the flank. Play of the day so far. Absolutely sublime pass from Gunston. 45-7
Red haven't had a touch forward of centre yet
6:00 contested mark from Rayner in defence springboards maroon forward again. Joe flies over the pack, Charlie pounces unmarked at the back, can go himself but handballs to Sharp in (slightly) better position who rolls it through 51-7
7:30 messy passage of play results in a rushed behind. Charlie looks quick would you believe 52-7
8:30 McKenna butchers an aggressive kick into the corridor looking for Gunston. No harm done tho as Starce repels with a big overhead mark inside D50
10:00 good hustle from maroon inside 50 sees Bailey rewarded with a free for illegal disposal. Nails the set shot from 50 58-7
13:00 nice build up from half back sees Gunston mark 45 out. He flat bags it to the behind line where Hipwood marks. Runs around onto his right and slots it. Strewth can we slot them like this in the real season?? 64-7
14:30 great mark back with the flight but only a behind from the set shot for red 64-8
16:00 we've made a mess of several kicks coming off half back and Rayner's missed another one. I guess now is the time to take these on tho and going down the line seems to work less and less with each passing season.
17:30 Ashcroft roves the pack delightfully. Is well within his rights to snap from 20 but goes for the arguably more difficult option of centreing to Joe. It ends up being a hospital kick but Joe still hauls it in despite some attention and converts from 20 70-8
20:00 Bailey streaming through the centre spots Gunston out the back inside 50. He marks with the flight and converts his set shot from 30 76-8
22:00 mark of the day from Wilmot at half forward running back with the flight to cut off a red thrust.
25:00 Fort now in the maroon. Andrews in the centre picks him out all alone and unattended 15 out in the right pocket. Would you believe he nails his set shot on the buzzer?

Half time 82-8. Red look buggered. Maroon look good but not sure we're learning much 🤷
