It must have been hard to do triathlons without swimming. Run, cycle, and whoever drowns the slowest wins?
I already knew how to swim, didn’t know how to ride a bike though, although I learnt without training wheels.😂

I had such a thing for Mallory, no matter how high maintenance she was.

I was never allowed to have a bike😩 when growing up.
I bought my first bike when I was 19 when I started training for triathlons after giving up swimming.
My first bike was a purple hand me down 8 speed race bike, that one of my uncles left under grandma’s house when he left home.

Dad cleaned the chain up, and it was here ya go kido.

Damn near killed myself on my first ride, down Wardell street, Enoggera (the steep side heading towards Ashgrove).

Life expectancy didn’t improve greatly upon taking it home, as we lived in the hilly part of Coorparoo.

The biggest concern for me coming into this season is our vulnerability down back. Adams leaves a hole that could create a problem if the oppositions ball feed into their f50 gains momentum in any period of games. It does seem like our midfield now looks capable of defending this type of scenario now but it's so critical for Harris, Dizzy, Payne to band together & become the defensive wall we need when playing good sides. I dont believe Gunston will be used down back and will stay in the forward line that should be the most potent in the comp. This leaves opportunities for Fullerton and maybe Joyce to stand up should we cop an injury or poor form.

Completely agree. How does Joyce look at the moment?

Dizzy and Paine injured already which worries me. Adams may play but its obviously uncertain at the moment.

I would have thought Fullarton down back as a tall was where he has a realistic chance of getting a regular spot and it's where we are weak.

Adams has been moved to the LTI for the year. Don’t believe we’re likely to see him at all.

Agree that any injury to Harris, Dizzy and Payne could create a problem. Recent history shows they won't play all games.
Harris has been fairly good but still missed 1,1,2 and 3 games in the last four years.
Dizzy played every game in 2019 but missed 5,16, 5 then 0 in 2019. Still to join the main training group this year.
Payne is unknow at an AFL full season level but did play 12 games last year.
Payne also has had a small preseason set back which is always a worry for any player.
Also agree Gunston stays forward although he could go back if one of our KPD goes down mid game and we have no other option.

When one or more of these 3 don't play, we will just have to find a suitable replacement in regard to the opposition that week.

He's not on the LTI list, he's on the inactive list. Inactive = you can't come back that year (which is why you can list a new player to replace them) vs LTI, which players can come back from (which is why it's only for rookie upgrades).

I'm not sold on Joyce for no other reason than he hasn't really proven he can play at the level yet . It'd be nice if we could find a tall KPD in case injury strikes which is just as likely as not and Fullarton is the only one as far as I can tell who could potentially take on a role there.

Will be curious to see how he goes. I can't help but think the Saints have a terrible developmental program, so am hopeful Brisbane think they can get him to AFL level faster than the likes of Arnold and Greene who they've had continued exposure to in the VFL.

I was a big fan of them taking Greene who I think showed enough to be given the chance, so Joyce must have impressed.

We could be involved in a few shootouts this year but not many will be able to go with our scoring power for 4 quarters.
We’ll be dangerous with space to work with rebounding.

Geelong and Melbourne maybe the only ones who could still put the clamps on us defensively.

I am not sold on Joyce either, but that's who we have along with anyone one else on our list.
We have no lists spots, so we won't be finding a tall KPP from outside out present list.
I would be happy if they played Fullarton in defense in the VFL but so far in the sims he has played mostly forward.
If the club think he is an option, they should be playing him in defense mostly at VFL level.

I don’t think Joyce is like for like with Greene. My impression is Greene‘s path to AFL would be as a half back flanker, though he may have potential to play further up the field. Joyce is more like Arnold or Buzza. Personally I can’t understand why one of them wasn’t preferred to Joyce. Joyce’s AFL stats are very similar to Buzza’s, though I concede that Buzza hasn’t played much as a key back at AFL level. I thought he was reasonable as a full back at VFL level in the second full half of last year.

Given how much every single AFL coach (and VFL coach... and SANFL coach... and WAFL coach and...) bars up over defence, it's unlikely. Maybe it's time for a 'bazball' revolution in footy? If anyone has the potency for it, it's us.

I'd say Joyce is more like for like than Greene, but Greene projects to be a Gardiner type player, taking the third tall. He has shown great signs in the role and if we were confident in Dizzy to play on the second tall it could have worked. Still, you'd assume Joyce has shown enough to prove a better prospect than Dizzy on the second tall.
