Hickey wins with a weight gain of 7kg,, Corey W not far behind
Gulden and Blakey both lost weight ???
Not sure that 1kg or even 2kg either way will be meaningful unless it's the average over a number of days at supervised weigh ins, which of course it might be.
Blakey has had glandular fever.
Gulden might have been doing aerobic work to prep for more mids time?
Hickey is a surprise because that does look significant.
Logan looks every bit of it!
The others 🤷‍♂️

Florent, Gould and Paps are the one that catch my eye. Perhaps because they are significant changes in relatively established players (Gould isn't established but he's been on the list a while already and we thought he had been trying to lose weight - hope he's gained for the right reasons!)

If those numbers are correct then WTF was in the water in the year 2000?

Talented bunch but that trio of Blakey, Rowbottom and McInerney seem incapable of putting any muscle on.

Rowbottom's been 82kg since basically his first season (which is still not much, given his size and role), while the other two have (surely not?) lost weight, despite neither having an ounce of fat on them and needing to add pure muscle to their scrawny frames.

Especially Blakey, who I find it hard to believe would've actually lost weight when he already had the lowest BMI of any Swans player. (I wonder if his glandular fever was a factor at the time of weighing?)

Going through Swans players while putting my team together for that-random-game-i'm-not-allowed-to-mention-because-bedford-hates-it and so many of them have the thumbs-down symbol followed by "Historically doesn't score well against Gold Coast."

**** I hope we beat them round 1. Sick of being caused such grief by such an average side.

What are you on about ? why is it a holiday there

I know it's only cause we've got injuries in the ruck department, but I absolutely did NOT see McAndrew potentially playing round 1 this year. Would there have ever been a more unlikely round 1 debutant for us?
I disagree.
I thought he was an option based solely on his height and the fact that he can tackle. He may look like a bean pole but his rugby roots do show up in the way he goes about it.

Reckon we finish in 8th or 9th spot come end of home and away.

Brisbane
Richmond
Geelong
Carlton
Collingwood
Melbourne
Swans/Port/Dogs the most likely to battle it out for these spots.

If we had Tom Lynch and they didn't then maybe we'd be in Richmond's spot.

Tigers are going the Hawks route of topping up an ageing list, they'll make the 8 but can't see them challenging.

Pies won't have such an easy draw, won't win so many tight ones.

Carlton gonna Carlton

Reckon we'll finish 4th.

Well done. Admire you putting it out there and on the line.

We have chosen organic growth over trading. Plenty of those clubs have traded to improve, we sat still. Hindsight never happens beforehand, so time will tell.

Personally, I think we over achieved last year - I aint complaining, but a more natural trajectory would have been 5th or 6th last year. IMO 3rd to 6th is our range this year, injuries permitting we might make another GF?

Hickey, Reid, Buddy, Rampe (all key structural players) one year older and then no JPK. It's a big gap to fill, let's hope the boys are up to it!

Pies and Carlton two shakiest of my predictions for sure. I just figure Carlton have to have one good season in them with the talent they have. Surely.
Tich getting the ball is going to be very interesting for Pies. He's good at farming it out to people and the pies have a lot of runners. Could be a marriage made in heaven.
I think the Tigers list is just strong everywhere.

We are really going to lack the key forward besides Reid to kick goals on a consistent basis to make the top 4 IMO. Unless we go helter skelter and have smaller forward line this year. Heeney and Parker up forward as marking options a fair bit as a game plan it could work and push us higher. If Amartey comes on then it will be different.

We made a grand final with Reid finishing 6th in our goalkicking, with 18 from 18 games.

Personally I think our season depends on Ladhams. If he fires like we all hope and pray he will, our mids will run riot. If he struggles ie let's his temper get the better of him, our mids will struggle also.
I think our forward line will be just fine and very hard to match up on.

So hard to say where we will finish... but I put my $10 on us to win the flag ;)
I reckon Buddy will go backwards and so will Rampe and Hickey. The rest of them Reid, Parker, Lloyd, Cunningham/Fox (the next crop of oldies) should hold their form
Ladhams will hopefully cover (and maybe improve) our ruck
Mills, Heeney, Paps, Paddy (26yo's) will be as good if not better
The rest,,, Florent, Hayward, T Mac, Stephens, Rowbum, JMac, Blakey, Warner, Gulden, Campbell, Logan etc .. all have natural improvement in them. Theres a lot in this group which in my opinion equates to a lot of improvement

of course luck with injuries is crucial.
My $10 is looking good!!

Yes but Buddy is a year older - and was average last year. He'll be below average this year.
No knock on the bloke, but time is undefeated.
Unless Amartey steps up to fill the void it's going to be interesting. He's shown glimpses. I hope he can flourish.
