No argument he played well across the season and was an important part of the team. But that's not what I (and I reckon 99% of people) think red hot means.

In the lead up to the Pies final, Lobb kicked 0 goals vs West Coast and I think was subbed out (shoulder maybe?). Didn't play vs GWS in the final round and then kicked 2 goals vs the Dogs. I am not sure being "red hot" entails kicking 2 goals in the 3 games before the Pies final.

If you didn't mean it as a form guide, but as a overall season performance (which I don't think anyone would agree that is the usual meaning) then Lobb's 36 goals were good enough for 29th on the goal kicking list in the league. Feels more room-temperature beige to me, which I think describes our forwardline from 2022 quite well.
Kicking a bag or significantly bringing others into the game or carrying the team = white hot.
Lobb, over 3 seasons would be best described as lukewarm in 2022 and quite tepid the other seasons - that’s being bloody generous….

Entirely depends on the source of the infection which I think the short priced favorite would be from a needle, and if that's extracting fluid from the knee or just giving something a little jab to get through - he's carrying something.

The very close second most likely is the same fall that scraped his hand also scraped his knee - which is a preferred outcome to the above.

How influential has Nathan Fyfe been on a whole generation of footballers? Daniel Curtin is about the 20th potential draftee I have heard say his idol/role model was Fyfey.

Ferck. Will Brodie was a Freo supporter growing up because of Fyfey.
Brodie was a Barlow fan because they were from the same town (ish)

Now we can always say Fyfe is your favourite player's favourite player. The highest compliment.

If we’re a serious club we don’t have the attitude the rebuild is over and constantly are looking to improve the list.

Even if we win a premiership we ask ourselves what we need to win it the year after as well.

Match committee might pick less kids, we may pick less at the draft but it’s always the list management team’s job to find good young talent.

Outside of Alex Pearce and Lachie Neale I’m not sure we recruited a single above average player in the National Draft between 2010 and 2015. We managed to develop Taberner from the rookie list too. Anyway if we’re that sh**e at recruiting for the next 6 years it will not only be painful when we’re no longer contending but hurt us when we’re contending as well.
How are we defining above average here? Crozier to date has played 138 senior games and has had a 11 year career. You could also argue Weller on the same basis. Tucker has managed 110 AFL games and he's only 26 and still on a list. Weller in particular, when he is not injured, is definitely a better than average running defender.

Even if you say 5 instead of 2, that's, well it's not ideal. Luckily the 2016,17,19,20 and '21 drafts have helped balance it out a bit*

*(I am actually all aboard the hype train with this list. I think it's dynasty level.)

Might have to watch the sim from near the power tower again and see if I can get another visit from Belly 😂
The unofficial match against Adelaide is listed as 6 x 25 minutes (no time on) on the AFL website. I'm guessing the squads will be large and almost everyone who is fit will be given significant minutes. Going to be brutal at 3.30pm in February.
