Anyone who has played footy knows that the position the captain plays on the field is completely irrelevant. Most of the time the actual identity of the captain doesn't even matter, unless they're terrible

Defenders make good captains because their role is mostly effort and discipline. They work harder and deny their opponents and they lift the team.
A forward who is captain cab be shut out of the game by opposition midfields, he can run ten leads per play and not be rewarded.
Setting a standard for work rate and discipline on field is most of the captaincy, on field.

Just quietly looking at non vic teams performances in gfs.
A lot of the time they shit the bed because it’s the first time playing to that size crowd and being pro vic crowd when against a vic team.
For our group to get that experience infront of the pies crowd last finals series is pure gold.
It will go a very long way in helping us when the time comes!

Definately something they can draw on if we get another Melbourne based final this year. Think of the mistakes that Walker, Young, Chapman etc all made during that Collingwood game. They'll be much better prepared for it next year.Just quietly looking at non vic teams performances in gfs.

The club website lists the next training as Tuesday 14th Feb.
