Now that we have a solid defence with the addition of Kemp and Cinc, I would love to see us trailing Newman in our troublesome area hf, very smart for linking up, good long kick, fast and agile, good mark

Going a bit early there with that .

Besides, we've already seen Doc move into the midfield from our defence. Newman has been A grade as a defender this year.

Cottrell can play the hhf role. Owies, cunners and Martin back from injury soon.

Dogs definetly don't need more mids. North have quite a deep midfield mix as well. Probably wouldn't play for the Hawks either - like their mix. Maybe with SOS at Saints now they could be an option

He was good when he came on, looked like he was playing very much with a point to prove - game was well and truly over and he was in 6th gear, in a good way. That's what you want to see, that hunger and desire to prove your worth.

Only negative I had was the bomb for goal. The rest of the team had quite obviously been looking and trying to get Charlie to 10 and he takes a running shot from outside 50. Even without Charlies 10 it was still a little bit selfish, if he wasn't the sub I think he looks to pass. I get it though, he wanted to prove he should be in the team so wanted the goal, it just maybe wasn't the right play.

I totally agree 1000% percent a million percent even this is one of the most astute pickup comments I have ever read!

Kennedy is a such a ball hog he hogs the ball like it is a big hamburger - he gets the munchies just thinking about eating the ball all to himself- I bet he hides hamburgers and hides all the balls from his team mates too- because he is selfish absolutely 100% totally selfish - but what makes it far far far worse is Kennedy is slowly selfish like a selfish snail..

Kennedy took the ball from CBB and crawled his way like a snail to inside forward fifty fooling all the much faster runners from the opposition by his slowness (this should be seen for what it is is- really - cheating) like he is running in another alternative slow motion dimension so he disappears because he is so so so sloooooow - such levels of slowness is tantamount to cheating Kennedy is a slow selfish ball hogging cheat- who doesn't play in teh spirit of the game he is a slow selfish cheat ...let me expand some more

As Kennedy disappears from radar because of slowness his slowness is so slow he doesn't appear in defensive thought process like a stationary clump of grass really he is so slow that you can see his hair growing faster than his feet move he is so slow that any stat he makes in play is missed because people's eyeballs aren't capable of registering Kennedy's level of slowness

Indeed Fisher's current form is nothing but a liability to the team's ability to deliver good footy.

Same for Ed C. frankly - not sure why he's there....

Agree with all this. Although if this is ever the game to use Ed to effect you put him on Lachie Neale with the only instruction, that Neale does not get a kick. If not used for that struggle to see a role for him.

We can not make all the changes in a week but I want to see us reach the point where we put the most aggressive ball movement team on the park within the limit that there needs to be some set roles like high half forward

Cottrell either replaces Honey at HHF or if Hollands needs a rest he plays the other wing, Can he replace Ed as a tagger?
Boyd - comes in if we get a backline injury. Mcgovern and Kemp is a beautiful thing in allowing Young to 2nd ruck which leaves JSOS fwd.
Binns- Form must be rewarded maybe for ED. Ed Curnow's tagging ability at age 33 is not more important than developing our youth or adding to our run and carry
Owies- must come in for Honey. His defensive pressure is compensating for Motlop and Durdin.
Cunningham or Martin- If they show form they are still our best high half fwd options but are a long way
Carrol- Not sure why he did not play VFL but if we get mid injury, he deserves an opportunity. Kemp proved he spent too long in the VFL and Carrol deserves a 4 week block
Motlop- I would give him a few weeks in the 2s to work on his tackling and pressure.

There are at least 6 players who can make a real difference to our transition play. It is the first time in 12 months we are close to a fit list

Kennedy wasn't dropped due to being bad. He was dropped due to team balance and it paid off. Despite being against westcoast we looked much better playing the 8 defenders allowing Doc to rotate as the 5th mid and Young as backup ruck.

Based on that it would be odd if we recalled him regardless of how he played as sub.

Voss/assistants & match selection committee need to keep making the hard decisions on team balance, even at the expense of good players like Kennedy because we can’t continue to have an abundance of one paced/slow inside midfielders playing all at once week after week…

The evidence is clear as day that we need to have a better spread of versatility and speed particularly throughout the midfield and flanks, if someone has to miss out for the betterment of the team then that’s the way it goes…

Kennedy is a such a ball hog he hogs the ball like it is a big hamburger - he gets the munchies just thinking about eating the ball all to himself- I bet he hides hamburgers and hides all the balls from his team mates too- because he is selfish absolutely 100% totally selfish - but what makes it far far far worse is Kennedy is slowly selfish like a selfish snail..

fantastic example you picked to highlight Kennedy's lack of team play and total selfishness- let me expand because I've been meaning to make some observations about Kennedy and we can use this definitive example posted as solid ground as to why I think Kennedy will never play for Carlton again.

Kennedy took the ball from CBB and crawled his way like a snail to inside forward fifty fooling all the much faster runners from the opposition by his slowness (this should be seen for what it is is- really - cheating) like he is running in another alternative slow motion dimension so he disappears because he is so so so sloooooow - such levels of slowness is tantamount to cheating Kennedy is a slow selfish ball hogging cheat- who doesn't play in teh spirit of the game he is a slow selfish cheat ...let me expand some more

As Kennedy disappears from radar because of slowness his slowness is so slow he doesn't appear in defensive thought process like a stationary clump of grass really he is so slow that you can see his hair growing faster than his feet move he is so slow that any stat he makes in play is missed because people's eyeballs aren't capable of registering Kennedy's level of slowness

Kennedy is so slow that his absence from midfield duties increases the average midfield leg speed by a factor of 1000 times at least and that is when the other midfielders are tired so tired that they can hardly move- but when they move Kennedy is so slow he cant see them - Kennedy's eyes are even slow they move so slowly he is like a bat who cant fly and whose radar is off - a blind bat and also the 'bomb ' he kicked that was an accident and a fluke he does those flukey accidents every time he bombs for goal - selfish slow bomber that is what he is - oh and lets not forget nasty he nearly put Cripps in hospital with his slow handball that was so slow it wasn't registered by Cripps until it broke a couple of his ribs (there was a bit of dirt hanging off the ball obs)

I'd like to see this. Same def setup with Young relief rucking and Doc playing as a mid who rotates back a little. Durdin to get a few goes in the middle, say 5-10%. Keep a similar balance of mid/wing/fwd for guys like Cerra & Walsh. Cotts HF/HHF but can take a bit of Hollands' wing time, with Ollie rotating a little to HF/HHF to accommodate Cotts and ease the load on himself. Kennedy sub again to see how it looks against a better side.

We've been screaming out for it all year.

More of it back yourselves in, way too many times our players are in the position to do so and for whatever reason want to pass it off onto someone else who most times are not in a better position…
Nothing wrong with hitting up your forwards/teammates if that’s the clear thing to do but if your got the opportunity, have a crack & go for goal…
