Trades 2023 Round 8 Trades

The $42k difference between Simpson and Angwin feels like a million bucks with the rookie and cash gen crisis.

If both Ward and Lloyd return, and Angwin holds his spot, I reckon he could survive for a while. Kennedy, Hamilton and Wehr out long-term.

Problem is we badly need a couple of rookies to make some cash. Who is more likely to get 5-6 games (or even better last through the byes)? Who is a better bet to get to $300k?

I don't know, but I think that is more important this week.

Might even be Teakle?

Simpson will be around 300k in 2 weeks time, easy stepping stone for a bottom priced rookie and bank the rest.

Ginbey, Grundy & Setterfield to English, Oliver and Cincotta.

Leaves me with this and 5k in the bank. Alternative option is Gawn and saving 170k to be used next week on MID premo

Means I miss on Teakle and/or Simpson as well.

Paying extra for similar JS is the issue

-Tuohy will return
-Cam Guthrie unknown
-Rohan was precautionary so should be fine(based off coaches comments in the presser)
-Bowes looks like a few weeks out (based off coaches comments in the presser)
-Stengle was 3-5 weeks last injury report; may be 2-4 weeks today

Also Bruhn did OK coming off the bench (2 goals)

Geelong is the worst with injury reports. Can't trust them at all.

Some on their board mentioning that Simpson could/should be sub.

-they may opt for Finlayson/Dixon in the ruck


Imagine paying $166k or $200k for a bloke that gets dropped. If the risk is similar with all, better to have a cheap dead rookie.

I'm having a similar debate value vs SP. Not sure on Gawn, will no doubt improve. Might get DPP then you could English a bit cheaper?

Re: Simpson. Geelong do rotate their older players, so while 2E is back others like Danger/Smith will get rests.

Normally I wouldn't bother with Simpson but I badly need some cash gen and Geelong are rolling now, so he should score ok. Reckon he gets to $300k if he stays in another 4-6 weeks.

GWS have Dogs, Pies, St Kilda, Geelong as their next 4 games. They probably lose all those, so even IF he stays in what will he score playing wing?

We had not Stegs then ..close and Mires were not best 22 .
But it's not 2019 anymore ...doc and Marty.

But inj have him him getting he's chance he's doing he's bit .

Hard to know who stays in longer Angwin or Simpson.

I think you can wait a couple more weeks for Mills, but I think he'll go on a decent run at some stage. I think it'll be 105-110, but still solid for his price, and with this season being weird. Also has huge score potential. Fox will return this week (concussion) and Melican will play VFL (he can cover Paddy long-term). Not sure he gets super high CBAs though. I got my eyes on him in the next few weeks.

I like those trades.

They're not wrong just that they haven't updated to Rd7 yet but agree with everything else...
