No, we threw the lad into the deep-end, defensively, seeing he had jobs on pretty much all of the premier small forwards.

Worrell/Doedee had the entry level role in that sector.

Yeah I thought what I wrote sounded a bit off.
Absolutely,I agree, his stopping roles were top shelf.

What I meant was, I think he was instructed to focus on purely stopping. Considering the obvious talent, skillset and I.Q he showed this year, I predict his role gets expanded past a pure lock down role next season.

I feel like with the money we have, we would have upped our offer to McAdam so I'm guessing it's more than just money for his reason for leaving us.
Wasn't it because of the mismanagement of his quad injury this year?

Maybe the best thing for him is to get out of Melbourne?
something serious needs to change in his life from all accounts. If that's circle of 'friends' or whatever it is , this young man is in strife it would seem if he doesn't get things right in life life NOW. Good luck to him as this seems pretty full on

I thought about this over lunch.

Hypothetically, what if the trade went through with Adelaide on Monday for three first round picks.

Come Thursday, Oliver does himself a mischief and is no longer able to play footy (or passes away).

Taking the obvious human element out of it, what would make of the draft picks?
Pretty unprecedented situation but interesting question. The known legal contract and trades executed are the starting point you would have to think but I aint no Legal Eagle

Was a pretty extreme undersell of Max's season.

That's certainly the next challenge. To push away from a stopper to someone who can hurt both ways. Could take years for MM to get there as well as it tends towards being a slow process if you don't start with it.

Mismanagement? McAdam has always had major issues with professionalism off the field. He’s not just unlucky with the amount of soft tissue injuries he picks up.

Just before the 2019 season, the club couldn’t find McAdam, this is why he was suddenly listed as ‘managed’ on the injury list. When I mean couldn’t find him, he just stopped coming to the club all of a sudden and no one could get hold of him for a few days (nothing suspicious, I believe he may have just gone home). He then ended up pinging a calf in a SANFL trial against Port a couple of weeks later (surprise surprise due to poor conditioning).

What I find interesting with this injury list (see below) which was updated today is that they have Shane McAdam listed as managed but add a time frame to it, namely one week.

Luke Brown Ankle 8 weeks

Ben Davis Managed 1 week

Bryce Gibbs Shoulder Available

Hugh Greenwood Abdominal Test

Elliott Himmelberg Foot 2 weeks

Riley Knight Foot Test

David Mackay AC joint Test

Shane McAdam Managed 1 week

Andrew McPherson Groin TBC

Daniel Talia Knee Available

Updated: Wednesday, March 6

Injury list: Every club's medical room ahead of JLT2

C4[2]Yo`DooR Any word on pick 7 salary dump trade? Do we no longer need it now that MFC have annouced Petty is staying?
I’ve heard nothing further sorry, but I’ll keep you posted.

I think the Crows are in an arms race for pick 7 to get ahead of Carlton (who are desperately trying to land pick 8) to get first dibs on Sanders.

Caro confirmed on AA Oliver hospital visit is "mental health " related.

Dees probably correct in saying he hit his head. Which can be done when you collapse. Needing the CT and X-ray to clear physical damage after having his stomach pumped.

Or maybe he was cleaning Gawn's gutters as a thankyou gesture and fell off the ladder.

It was a pretty dramatic fall, needing an ambulance and taken to a public hospital before alerting his club doctor.

Think we dodged a bullet here. Although Dees holding him to his contract, coupled with the way they shamed him probably a tipping point.

Him coming to us, working with someone he trusts in Burgo could have been a real life changing moment for him.

It’s a hypothetical because the trade never took place.

But “caveat emptor”. AFL players don’t come with a warranty.

Remember Chris Yarran? As far as I can recall Richmond gave up a first round draft pick to Carlton for him, he never played a game for the tigers.

Happy because we have a heap of home Friday and Saturday games or happy because we got a piss weak draw that includes double ups against all the poor sides?

I do wonder if we'll get prime time away matches at the G, like Adelaide v Collingwood on a Friday night at the G would be awesome. Probably get our ass kicked but we need that experience

We have plenty of experience at getting our ass kicked.
