He didn't get 's**t thrown at him'.

He got called out for using the information he'd been given (which I'm sure was genuine) to grandstand on this forum and drip feed morsels of said information in a manner that was intended only to stroke his ego.

Let's stop putting up w***ers like this as martyrs.

terrible take. He and Thinker were both awesome posters, providing clear and concise inside info where they felt they could.

Honestly, nothing would impress you until we win a flag. That’s fine, but it gets very tiring reading such a pessimistic POV in literally every thread on this board. There’s evidence now that goes against what some have thought on this board all season and yet it’s still turned into a bash Nicks crusade. Boring.
Here’s the answer for you Kochie, don’t read

His interview saying he trained less in the preseason this year has been posted.
It wasn’t part of the plan this year.
Given how Dawson played as inside mid compared to HB in his first season with us, are you surprise? Maybe that's why it all clicked this year as he had less pressure to perform as an inside mid.

My mail was he interviewed poorly in the eyes of some recruiters, as in a bit different character wise?
Interesting.

From memory his best football in the u18s was as a mid but hamish viewed him more as a forward.

I'd be surprised if we picked him up now

What's the consensus amongst Collingwood supporters re Draper?

They happy to see him go, or a squeeze out due to list spots situation?
From a couple of Reddit threads, most seem more disappointed in Ruscoe and Bianco getting the flick (and Will Kelly surviving). Only one suggesting Draper would get another shot.

Why would he train with the midfield at all if it wasn’t part of the plan. Do you think Butts trains with the midfield? Or Tex?

So he trained with the midfield?
He trained less with the midfield than the previous year. Now is that the training you’d anticipate for someone who is going to be a full time mid?

He may have had some reduced minutes because at some stage they might have given him a run in there, just for some flexibility. But clearly the intention was never to be a full time mid.

Played most of 2022 as a defender, especially the latter half. Trains predominantly as a defender. Preseason games plays as a defender. First 2 games he plays as a defender and we lose.

He has a chat and says to the coaches reckon I should be playing mid. Coaches agree and bang, makes AA as a mid.

At that presser he said he went to the coaches and suggested it. Nicks agreed. Later Nicks realising in the interview how it looked, says we had planned on playing him a mid at some stage. But it was Dawson who instigated it.

If you read all this and still think this move was from Nicks, well, pointless continuing it.

Tagging you Amacca 23 so I don’t have repeat myself replying to your post

I did and no it wasn’t. What about the subsequent interview where Dawson said he trained less with the mids this year?

Ask bigman where he saw Dawson train during the preseason.

There is no doubt he probably did spend some training in defence because Nicks always had the plan for our best player to play deep in defence to minimise our losing margin. We even saw Rankine in defense at times during a couple of games..RANKINE!

Nicks coached to save his job the last two seasons. Can't wait till next season. If Nicks remains unsigned, just how defensive we will become.

I'm sure you believe what you post ....fact is, if Nicks played defensively to minimise losses to save his job .....that would have only resulted in him being sacked

You don't think there's a shared vision at board meetings on a regular basis .....there's no evidence to support your POV

You asked for evidence repeatedly and I eventually found the interview we had been referencing and your still ignoring it.
Sorry, I have a lot of the posters responding to this muted.

I posted the clip where Nicks and Dawson laugh it off, saying that he'd been training with the mids through the preseason but it wasn't implemented until round three.

If you have a subsequent interview, I'd happily look at it - maybe DM it so we don't clog up this thread.

They have mentioned that Dawson trained with the midfielders throughout the pre-season. It wasn't implemented in the first two games but was in the third.
The last 2 years ....and Dawson played predominantly midfield in the Swans reserves ....so SYD's plans were also midfield

Those against Dawson playing in DEF, simply wanted him to play WING ......no mention of midfield

Got to laugh at the lengths you will go to.

The laugher from Nicks was the suggestion that Dawson told Nicks that was going to play midfield. The suggestion has never been that.

What the point has been it was Dawson who went to the coaches about playing midfield that week, Nicks backed that up at the beginning. Nicks talks about training for it and yet Dawson in the interview you won’t acknowledge said he trained less with the midfield.

And if you are under any illusions that it wasn’t in Nicks plan to play Dawson as a full time mid, in this clip he says it doesn’t mean he will play there every week. They will look at it. Case closed.

For you too Amacca 23
