Club was happy to extend Alison can’t see why not Connelly. He has a body of work and can develop for the rest of the year
Allison's a tall taken in the first round of a draft and in his 1st/2nd year when his contracted was extended. It's fairly normal for first round picks to get an extra 2 years to show their worth.

Connolly is in his 4th year and received the same extension that Allison received.

Just to put this game into perspective Sydney havent won a game this year and ATM they are making Sandi look 2nd rate.

Our lack of quality midfilders and running quality depth is really highlighted in these games. Connolly hasnt got near since I gave him wrap. Paton couldnt hit a target if his life depended on it.

Playing 4 keys talls in defence who are all slow Van Es, Adams, Cordy and Highmore is killings us at ground level.
Highmore gas taken plenty of intercept marks but Buller is killing them forward with 5 goals.

3/4 time Sandi down by 16 points and struggling big time. There skills and lack of run are very ordinary.

Batchelor is having a very poor day in the box, why he doesnt move one of the key talls out of defence forward is a worry. Plus they need more run around the ball try Peris in there FFS.

People think the umpiring is ordinary at AFL level, it is expodentially poor at this level. Its been horrendous...a group of umpires who have completely no feel for the game.

Looking at the pictures, it seems like this game is being played on one of the outside ovals at Moore Park with the traffic in the background being on South Dowling Street.
If so, not quite the MCG. 😂😂😂

These games are about development not winning. Playing one of the talls forward isn't what their development needs.

Sydney win 80 to 76. A poor game by Sandringham. They hit the front with 5 mins to go but couldnt hang on.

Sharman had a good last quarter.
Membrey ended with 2 goals but still a way off.
Connolly good 1st half quiet in 2nd half.
Paton got plenty of it but his kicking was terrible.
Highmore good intercept marks, but takes an eternity to kick the ball and it comes straight back.
Campbell serviceable.
Heath quiet but kicked a goal in the last.
Peris tackled well, missed a couple of snaps.
Cordy is a bog average VFL footballer.
Adams & Van Es ok.
Keeler 1 goal but quiet, using him as the ruck in the forward line in the last was an error in coaching.
Hotton hardly sighted.

Sandy don't look a very well-coached outfit, even considering the lack of talent. No real evidence of any system, at least Coops had a good game.
Yes, from a 'development' perspective our skills through the midfield are lamentable. We looked a bit better once we began kicking it out from the backline as opposed to trying a series of experimental handballs to stationary targets but the main problem is that we are far too slow. Sydney's burst speed from the stoppages got them their lead and was important at the death when the game was there to be won.
Hotton, clearly under instructions to stay clear of the pack, observed most of the action from a distance. Of the other St Kilda listed players only Sharman managed 4 consistently good quarters.

Windy and Bytel out of the midfield was always going to hurt us. It's an area we need to hit this off season.

It's a tough spot for Membrey who desperately needs form but doesn't have the mids around him to help his cause.

Sydney's mid season draftee looks great. Been dominating the WAFL so no surprise he managed to step in and kick 5.

These games are about development not winning. Playing one of the talls forward isn't what their development needs.

Losing games to teams who havent won a game is not development either. Granted you have to play the talls but Sandringham were far too slow and top heavy today. Even our talls that played were very ordinary, excluding Highmore. The windy conditions didn't help but Sydney didn't seem to have worries marking or kicking the ball.

Sydney had two MSD picks playing there first game Buller 199cm kicked 5 goals and Arnold more composed as a tall defender than all ours.

With the injuries we have we and or Sandringham simply have no midfield or running flanker type depth. We had not one player who played 4 quarters of footy and you would be confident elevating to AFL level and they would do a good job - that's the concern.

Milne didn't get as much of the ball as Paton, but hell i wish Paton was as reliable with it as Milne is.

13 Saints at Sandy which is our record for the year but they're pretty inexperienced or mediocre or out of form:

Membrey - experienced and out of form
Campbell - experienced and good at VFL level
Cordy - experienced and ok
Paton - experienced and ok

Sharman - youngish and ok
Highmore - youngish and ok
Connolly - youngish and ok

Adams - raw
Peris - raw
Heath - raw
Van Es - very raw
Keeler - very raw
Hotton - super raw

Add Bytel or Windy or Coffield or Hayes or D-Mac and the team gets a fair bit better.
