The club must think he can produce something if they do decide to upgrade him.
No games in AFL or VFL in 2023 due to injury.

Good VFL form in 2021 & 2022 and played just that one AFL R 17 game in 2022.

I would think they are hoping he is one of those players whose body matures out of the injury zone (as some do). Certainly has some nice attributes if he can get a run of form going.

The guy wanted to stay in Melb and leave the Kangas ... he got to choose between the Dons and the Hawks and to my admittedly un-expert eye the Bombers seem destined to bounce around and mediocrity for the foreseable future and the Hawks to be on a mission.
I don’t believe there’s too much difference between the two lists. Essendon probably has slightly better KPP’s, Hawks possibly have more dynamic midfielders, but they’re younger.

3 years on the rookie list so I think we either need to delist or upgrade him.

McCluggage and Coleman, you'd think the club would be offering 5yr deals for both. There wouldn't be too many to disagree with that. Would anyone consider a longer deal for either? I'd also think 800k a yr is a fair starting point. If they're happy, they can obviously see where the club is situated. Sponser their outside interests, hell build a school high in Nepal for Clugg. He can get some high altitude training in while he's there. Sweeten the pot in any way you can. Get the numbers right and I can't see any reason why they wouldn't re-sign.

I do wonder tho, if the Gabba shut down will be playing a part in any long term contract deals. I'd rather see money spent on upgrading Springfield to a 15-25,000 seat ground than spend it on the showgrounds. I reckon with some ANZ stadium type bench seating grandstands. The cheap seats. Put them along the wings at Springfield, bump the numbers up to 20,000 and youd have an intimidating little home ground. Anyway I'm sure there's another thread for that.
Fail to see the correlation between money spent in salary cap to money spent on grandstands.

There’s always money in the banana stand stadium stands

Sharp delisted by the Suns. Thought he looked a talent. How has he dropped off to the point of delisting.
The late delisting's are the ones our club should consider this year if they are the right fit.

The Dockers apparently offered a 3rd round pick last year but Suns held him to his contract.
So, he can walk to the Dockers if they are still interested or any other club of course.
Originally from Freemantle but i suspect he would go anywhere.

Not saying we take him but that is the area we should fill our last list spots with this year.

Doesn’t defend. Pretty much has the same faults now, that he had as an U18 (lack of defence and figjam).

Suns hoped for a trade, but everyone knew Sharp was being delisted this year.

Kid knew he had in at Freo, so mailed in the season.

Was he the one they live traded up weirdly to get?

Yep. Gave up their future mid first round compensation pick, which was subsequently traded the next year after in the package for Cameron.

Luckily for GC, in hindsight I don't think there was that much accessible talent they could've taken with that pick apart from Max Holmes. 2020 wasn't the best draft.

Wow 2020 does drop away. Apart from Gulden there is barely anything late. Even a top 10 from 2020 drops away in quality pretty quick

What's the story with Will Kelly. I had him pegged as a talented kid who kept getting injured. I may have him confused tho. Perhaps with Will Day or someone else? Am I making any sense?

Who?
Where?

Yep, 194cm/96kg, looked likely in debut with some good marks.

If he wants to give it another go and willing to relocate - we can try and make a bargain KPF out of him. Worse case we'll learn some inner workings of Pies and how they are training/preparing etc. I'll give him a year if he can bring that IP over.

There was none. Two different topics. One was salary related, the other was saying I'd rather see money spent by whomever, club, Afl, or Govt, on the ground at Springfield than on the Showgrounds when the Gabba is off-line.

I wouldn't hold much hope for him. Collingwood have an aging and injury prone Howe, Murphy is struggling with his 10th concussion and may not play again, even Moore has his hammy problems and yet they delist a tall defender. They mustn't see much in him, injuries aside. Could he be a fwd? I don't know that retraining him would be worth it. Plenty of natural fwds out there before we need to do that. If we were to pick up a dropped pie for intelligence, I'd rather Trent Bianco, I reckon he could become a real hard working hard running winger. Something we could use.

True, I have no idea how long he's been playing as defender and how good his forward traits would be these days.

May have watched him once or twice around debut, he looked like a good forward who knew where to lead and was about to clunk a few.
