Agree on using Zorko as a real burst or impact player. Can be either off the sub bench or just for odd games with regular breaks. Keeps him fresh and he is a smart enough player to come on and impact like that. Trying to play him every week would probably not be the smartest play (then again we have not been the best at managing a list like this)

Will Brisbane pick up any delisted free agents?
So far, 8 out and 2 in. So 6 list places to go, unless there are one or two rookie upgrades.
Probably 3 picks in the draft.
Of the three picks, I think they might grab Patrick Snell with a late pick. I don’t know who else they are looking at in the draft.

That leaves 3 picks.
Is it worth considering one or two of Bianca, Hately, Bonner, or Toby McLean, or do they look at bigger blokes like McLaughlin, Highmore, Will Kelly, or Ruscoe?

I don't know how it works but McDowell-White as a cat b rookie would need to be replaced by a player without an afl background for a number of years, young Daryl came from basketball, or some restriction like that.

So that leaves 5 to come from draft or dfa's. We may take a punt on 3 draftees, 2 from dfa's I'd reckon. There's been absolutely no hint from the club as to what their doing. Nothing hinted at by the media either. I wish there was.

We may even end up inviting a few players to train on and fill the final spots in the supplemental. Like we did with Joyce. Keeps us all wondering tho.

There’s been some word on here about two of our vfl top ups potentially being taken by us in the rookie draft. Bruce Reville (a wing or flanker type), and Kyle Dunkley (a mid).

I’m not confident with Bruce Reville. Height: 185cm, Weight: 73kg, D.O.B: 22-02-2001, so he’s 23 in February. He’s been topping up for a few years now. Handy in the 2s but not likely to ever put pressure on anyone in the first‘s. Same for Dunkley. Handy, but unlikely to move beyond being a serviceable seconds player. I’m happy for them to be top ups for the next season, or rookies only if there are no other options.

I like the idea of some new arrivals both playing a role within the club, and putting pressure on the established players. Rather than Reville, I’d like Brisbane to consider Mannagh if he was available in the draft. He may be ideal to put pressure on Linc and Zorks, and/or cover for Ashcroft for the first half of the year.

Reville I can understand. From the limited times I've been able to watch him, he has some zip n tricks to his game. Would certainly benefit from full time coaching and training. From what I've read of him, he's worked hard to get a shot. If he has/or develops the tank to run a wing attackingly, he could be a bit of a weapon in the future. Could he be a good sm fwd?

Kyle Dunkley is an odd choice tho. Certainly no better than Matho, and there are definitely better options out there. I've made the case for Bonner before, others have been mentioned. So he just seems surprising to me. Maybe he's convenient and very cheap, a stop gap for a year till Levi n Sam get here. But I'd hope the club regards talent and ability over that. Especially where we are so close to a flag. Maybe hes considered another option on the wing if there's potential but does he have the chops to pinch hit in the firsts if needed in the midfield, I don't know. Certainly keep him on the Vfl list, with Matho gone he might get more time in the middle. If there's significant improvement, there's always next year to give him a shot.

I don't think either player make us stronger as a squad next year. Neither give us the extra 5% or whatevers needed. But only one of them really has the potential longer term, Reville. I'm good with taking the punt on him.

If we assume 5 spots, 3 draftees, and 2 others. With one of those others being Reville I think that last spot needs to be a player ready n capable to play first grade. Now the question is where do we need the stronger depth most. In the midfield, in the fwds.

I think Fletcher can slot into the midfield, we can piece together a midfielder out of Answerth, Prior if needed for a game or 2. With Lyons, Tunstill, Ashcroft returning I think the midfield is covered.

I think we need another tall/med tall fwd, a genuine, goal kicking, been doing it for years in the Vfl at least type fwd. McLaughlin to me would be ideal. He's still young enough, 23, to prove himself a long term proposition. Or even Mannagh as jfn mentioned. We're well short on depth if say Hippy gets hurt in the Afl and Ryan gets injured in the ressies. Smith isn't ready, if he puts on 10kgs and learns to use it, maybe. Buzza leaving may give him more opportunity and responsibility as a key fwd, it may improve him. But until that day comes I'd like a bit more depth up front.

Queenslanders count, so an academy kid who gets through the National Draft or a zone prelisting like Reville can be Cat B.

James Stewart dumped by Don's....depth possible selection for KP forward n back?

Much happier with Ryan, thank you.
He's not really depth right now.

I don't mind Stewart as a desperation option but I wouldn't class him significantly different to Buzza who we just passed on listing.

The reason Stewart has been injured for an extended period is due to a foot injury which are notoriously difficult to get right.
James Stewart of 4-5 years ago, I would say yes to in a heartbeat.
No now!

What about James Stewart of 80 years ago?

James Stewart finally realised he can do better than Home and Away?
