Quite a bit of chatter in the Blues' trade thread today about Lewis Young being gettable.

Couple years left on his contract, but he has Weitering, Kemp, Marchbank, and McGovern ahead of him. Just like Fisher I guess.

I think you're lost. The VFL thread is that way >
I wish that were true.

Unfortunately we don't have a single AFL standard defender on our list and only one AFL standard tall. Unless we count Logue, who couldn't get a game in defence at Freo, and is out for most of next season. Anyway .... everyone back to jerking off about whether we should go Watson or Sanders or some other mid when half of our team is a bomb site.

Just saying.

Why do you say that?

What's the problem with

Bonar Corr McDonald

Bergman Dawson Fisher

?

That would easily be the worst back six in the AFL and probably one of the worst we would have ever fielded.

Bonar goes down every third contest, Corr can't play on go-to targets, Dawson has only played a handful of games, if McDonald was a no name like Turner he would have been delisted.

Other than that, it is fine...

I rate Lewis Young. He’s a great interceptor and in the right age bracket for our list.
Could we get a package deal, Young and Fisher for a F2 pick?
Carlton would probably want more.

B: Corr Young Bergman
HB: Fisher Dawson McKercher

What do you think an acceptable fix would be this offseason, taking into account our one-in-a-lifetime draft hand but also the scarcity of decent OOC options left?

Mids need to start lifting their weight defensively.

We need them as fit as possible and dog hungry to run both ways.

That will ease the pressure on the backline a bit.

We keep hearing about our midfield and how talented it is.

Time to hear how talented, fit and ****ing ferocious they are and how hard they bloody work.

At this late stage, with all the good experienced options contracted or linked to our rivals, I'd be quite happy if we could enter round 1 with something like:

FB Young - Corr - Haynes
HB Fisher* - Comben - Reid or McKercher

* rotating with Sheezel

Then one of Dawson, Bergman, Goater, and Archer as the 7th defender on the bench, depending on form and needs.

With Ethan Phillips and Connor O'Sullivan as KPD depth.

Just to plug the gaping holes, I think that we should target a couple of old short-term talls, say Haynes and Darling.

And we should ignore best available and move our picks so we can draft for needs. No more medium forwards or * midfielders (except McKercher who I love). We have to fix the list balance, it's diabolical. We need talls and we need defenders, this is the draft to fix it.

Who says no?

WC out: Pick 1 + Pick 20
WC in: Pick 2 + Pick 3

NM out: Pick 2 + Pick 3 + F1 PP + F1 PP
NM in : Pick 1 + Pick 5

GC out: Pick 5
GC in: Pick 20 + F1 PP + F1 PP

WC and NM don't bid on Walter

North 2023 draft hand: Pick 1, 5, 15, 20

Get some player at pick 5 was going to pick at 3
2x F1 PP become redundant next year

Why we saying at such a late stage... trade period hasn't even started yet!

Make WC trade their F2 (20ish) and we keep one of the F1s for a separate trade.

Trent Bianco deserves to be playing AFL footy.

Always thought Arlo Draper would struggle to adapt to AFL footy, showed highlights of class on juniors but was never able to consistently have an impact. Never settled in one position either.
Bianco doesn't work hard enough

Clarkson won his first flag with Stephen Gilham at FB. He later went and got a 31yo Brian Lake to play FB in 3peat team.

I reckon he’s got it in hand.
