I think you could get Gold coast pick 4. Trade
14,2024r1 for 4, Gold Coast 2024r2.
They can then trade 14 for or 3 second rounders for more points.

Or, GWS could be involved in some 3 way trade.
Wait... we're trading our F1 for pick 6 in this draft and WE are then downgrading pick 14 for their 2nd rounder (around 10 pick downgrade).

Thats a little unfair.

lol it’s hard enough convincing this community we should give up f1 in a deal for 4 - which must be just about be the best offer GC could expect - let alone suggesting we should downgrade the port pick too mate.
Interesting suggestion that GWS get involved too, and clearly you’ve got the draft capital, but I’m not sure what would be satisfactory for all three parties tho.

Can't say I recall seeing either Raak or OBrien play but 2 tall defenders worth a look? No idea myself. Dogs have plenty of talls. Squeezed out or no good?

Clarko would know OBrien.

I'm very disappointed to see O'Brien delisted. Was a first choice for the Kerridge every time we played the Hawks or more recently the Dogs, assuming their respective match committees made the fundamental mistake of picking him for any game (apart from against us.)

Steve's surname is the big clue as to who the new potential recruit is!
Another on the “how long have you been reading Bigfooty” list of questions.

Makes sense, because after all, our salary cap is busting at the seams, and its hard to delist anyone since arden street is packed to the rafters with A-grade talent.

Couldn't access it... what's it say although sounds like not worth the print it's written on!

Yeah it was just some bollocks rumour about how the Stephens signing decision has been delayed because we now want to hire someone else too.

It made no sense and its now been deleted.

But I'm sure we do want to sign others too, stephens won't be the only one...

Not that I'm interested in Boak but he isn't cooked.

His taken a back seat playing on the wing allowing Rozee, Butters, Wines, Drew & Judas to do their thing. Even Powell Pepper has played a lot more forward this year than previous years.

I’d 100% take Boak. He’s played a critical role in driving the standards of Butters and Rozzee. Took them on training camps to the US etc.

NEW FAVOURITE FOR MCKAY?

Sydney might be the strong favourites to secure Brodie Grundy but Essendon has emerged as a leading contender for Dons free agent Ben McKay.

Sydney had pushed strongly and lodged a compelling financial offer but Essendon has now made clear its interest and according to industry sources is the favourite for his services.

Hawthorn is the third option, with McKay now having three strong deals that would all trigger first-round compensation for North Melbourne, which would secure them pick three in the draft.

What is not known is whether they are three or five-year deals.

A three-year deal worth over $750,000 would likely be enough for first-round compensation.

But given the competition the clubs might have to offer longer than three seasons.

It is a remarkable statement about the power of free agents and key defenders given McKay was in extremely modest form early in the year coming off a bone stress fracture.

Now he has his pick of three clubs and could yet secure a long-term deal worth up to $4 million.

HAWKS STILL SEARCHING FOR TRADE TARGET

Hawthorn has lost out despite interest in Liam Henry and Esava Ratugolea, but they won’t stop trying to stiffen their defence.

Rivals believe they are keen on Essendon’s Brandon Zerk-Thatcher, who has an offer from the Dons and also strong interest from Port Adelaide.

He will make his decision in the next week after being happy to let the dust settle on the season so he could make a rational decision away from the daily routine of footy.

Zerk-Thatcher has been forced to sign a number of one-year contracts so with at least three clubs interested he has leverage for the first time.

Port Adelaide is still keen on him despite having secured the commitment of Ratugolea, but hasn’t yet offered a four-year deal.

Hawthorn also isn’t out of the mix for Carlton’s Zac Fisher, who was dropped for the first final.

He has two years on a Carlton deal and is warming to the idea of a fresh start given the Roos could offer a five-year deal.

But Hawthorn is still in the mix, with Fisher to wait until his exit interview before deciding on his next path.
