Say we do tap Sean Darcy up, what do we pay?

Freo types saying pick 2 lolololololololol.

Nothing.

Hopefully Clarko is tapping him up for Free Agency 2024.

Yeah if he wants to come now let's get him now, lot can happen in a year.

If we get him saying he wants to go now, as a pre-agent, we'll get him cheap still.

Yep I'd be saying 11 or 14.... I'm impatient I'd go now!

Given we don't have 11 yet and may never have it, aye I'd say 14.

Nah, I'm totally against getting him in now.

Fremantle will want the world at the trade table and it's counter productive of actually getting quality players in, if it costs the list build.

Just tap him up and stick a $1m per season contract in from of him from 2025 onwards.

Fremantle will demand both, as a minimum imo.

Given those could secure pick 5, we are basically trading #5 for Darcy, who we can get for nothing next year.

Would be poor list management.

You don't see West Coast chasing Tim English, they will get him next year for nix.

The guy our pick 73 kicked 7 on?
Our pick 73 is also an All Australian.

The pick number itself doesn't matter, the talent is what matters. Those with the highest picks get to choose the best talent before those with following picks. The guy who said don't take a KPD with a high pick doesn't understand this.

Freo can ask for the world but if the player wants to go and has the sword of pre-agency hanging over their head they're wedged.

We have to start winning some games and developing the young talent we've got.

14 is fine by me.

14 would be my offer also.

But it's not a one way street. If you convince the player to come under contract and then don't even open your wallet at the trade table, it doesn't tend to do wonders with your relationship with the player.

In this instance, he's better off not burning his relationship with Freo, play out 2024 and come via FA in 2025.

Darcy is injury prone from memory. We already have plenty of tall stock like that Xerri, Comben , McKay*, CCJ, Logues out. Do we want another ?

He's not injury prone.

He's got some knee issues, but he played 15 games this season, 21 last year, 21 the year before.

I worry more about his long term durability with his body shape and size on a long contract tbh.

souva worked darn hard on his kicking, picking up a frosty miller along the way didnt hurt either.

I would trade Zurharr. I’ve said this before and got shouted down but we would get a really good player for him and imo we have enough players like him. He’s overrated on here. Shake things up.

It also amuses me when people put George into their 23s over Ford, Stevo and Curtis - not having a crack at you - but the bloke is yet to play a game!!
I'd consider it if the deal was reasonable.

You’ve named 1 good key defender and even he wouldn’t go as high as he did in a redraft of that year.

Agreed, you don't want to be Essendon.
