I get the feeling we're letting West Coast think if you want curtain you better take him at one. Unless trading directly with us there's no point trading out of pick one because we'll still pick him at 2 or 3.

Reid could slip to 2 if he indicates to west coast he'd prefer to stay in victoria

I said it at the time, they missed out on an early second round pick because they were stubborn. Has come back around to bite them, won’t get near that.
Don’t you start again or you’ll have the aints fans here again

Either we take Reid with pick 1 or we trade 1 for 2 and ~15 and take Curtin with 2 imo. There is no bad blood between the clubs so I cant imagine there will be much smoke and mirrors when the respect of a trade can be done. Reid can also take the honour of being pick 1 in a trade scenario.

Umm on 7 October 2013 you kinda fkd us mate. I don’t reckon we’d do you many favours.

You cant be pissy about the McDonald pick, it was known all trade and draft period that we wanted him and per the rules we picked him with our first.
Its not like we did a Carlton and purposely picked a player linked via F/S or academy just to be antagonistic with no intention on actually drafting them. You will likely attempt to pick Walter with one of your picks this draft, it should not be seen as bad faith or being antagonistic.

I mean, there are dreams, and then there are dreams.

If McKay compo triggers band 1, and Sanders is prelisted, we're halfway there.

Then F1 for GC5 and Caleb Graham is another element.

(in my dream, Powell doesn't end up on the GC)

Then the Haynes salary dump is the final piece.

So
Pick 2 - Watson
Pick 3 (Mckay compo) - Curtin
Pick 5 (GC trade) - O'Sullivan
Pick 15 - Archer Reid

F4 - Haynes (North get Riccardi, Derksen, and 2023 R3 for taking the $1-1.2m price tag)

With 3 2023 third rounders and a fourth rounder in the kitty, North get 4 of Dylan Stephens, Massimo D'Ambrosio, Kaine Baldwin, Hugo Ralphsmith, Lewis Melican, Hunter Clark, Zac Fisher to acquire two skilful back flankers, one depth KPD, and a winger.
Nice. Except you have to cut 13 players off our primary list to do this. Seems like a lot.

I think that's very reasonable scenario if 1) North make it absolutely clear they'll take Curtin with 2 and 2) Curtin doesn't come out and outright say he'd be trying to leave after the first season (highly unlikely). Imagine there's a decent level of respect between WCE and Nth or at least not an outward hostility.

Is Flanders coming to the end of his contract? Any rumours about him going elsewhere?

He is waying up his options as we speak. Waiting for Hardwick to come to Australia and meet him in person. Has had a few interviews with VIC clubs. We are keen and in with a shot as Sam thought the interview went well. 3 months ago he was gone but since then he has had opportunities to play in his correct position (which is all he wanted) and Dew is now gone. He’s waying up between staying at GC, North and another club. 50/50 as of last week. It’s a big and potentially life changing decision for him to make.
