As for now - we have landed McKay. Things can change on a dime, but two different reputable sources are stating he's ours.

Additionally, in coming weeks or throughout the silly season, if you encounter stories regarding Oscar Allen, just know we are interested - yes, a Perth boy, but uninterested in staying at WCE and wants out. This doesn't mean he will get to leave, given he's under contract and WCE would most likely never part with him, but if enough is dangled, I'm guessing it can be done, but would have to be a monstrous offer. Once again, just whispers, nothing set in stone, but he wants out and I am getting told he doesn't mind the Hawks, but we are legitimately trying here irrespective of how out of reach it is.

Kosi leaving is perfect. Get picks back for McCabe, it's all we need, even if it's a shitty pick. Wasn't in our next team pushing for finals.

In any case, our absolute best haul this year needs to have both McKay and Chol involved (including pick 4 attached to it).

If McKay does follow through, and Chol declares us, we need to probably dangle a decent pick in front of GCS, maybe in the form of that future 1st people have been mentioning.

This would give us: Pick 3, Pick 4, First Rounder Matched (McCabe), McKay (KD), Chol (KF, 2nd Ruck).

That is an almighty haul, one that is quite farfetched, but honestly not out of reach. Go well Mitchell & McKenzie.

Go Hawks.
Who are the 2 reputable sources you are referring to? In the media or posters here?

I've had a 2nd source say McKay is 100% going to Essendon. I hope you're right.

Gold Coast trading Pick 4 out for a future pick makes no sense, when there are suitors that can Suns can get some picks to match bids this year, which would be their priority.

Both Hawthorn people within the club.

What people can't understand, and get angry at people about, is what I mentioned in the post.

Things can change on a dime.

48 hours ago he could have been committed to the Hawks, by last night, he could have flipped back to the dons if they increased their offer to match ours or up it. The longer it goes on, the more weary I get, but as of 48hrs ago, he was ours.

Dustin Martin had his foot halfway in the door at North Melbourne and was gone, then flipped on a dime. It happens all the time. Offers change, circumstances change, conversations change peoples minds (as it did in Dusty's).

You’d think the McKay stuff would be announced soon - seems like it’s down to the final stages. There’s no rush on FAs so not fussed on missing him as he’s not that good. Our FA window is more 1-2+ years away when have proven we’re on the up.

Outside a few posters most of the McKay stuff is probably from school kids on holiday. Make a claim on a new account - if comes off do a big told you so etc.

Losing brock and Kosi for likely unders probably hurts a bit more in some ways.

To me this sounds like he, or Ramanauskas, are just gold digging.

I'm wary.

Sounds like Dons have won the race. Good on em.

That is disappointing!
I had a mate text me last night saying Hawks had McKay on a 7 year deal?
When I arrived home at 12.00am last night I came on here for confirmation and I found crickets until now.
Fingers crossed my mate has a good source?

You are right except that in most instances it is bluff. Players haven’t actually committed, their agent just represents that while continuing to play the market. Clubs might believe them and that message gets out while the agent is still saying the same thing to another club.

What I do know for sure is that our offer to McKay is a bit of a toe curler. I can only assume Essendon’s is similar. He’s in for a hell of a pay day.

This again. A sign is needed. Suns won’t trade for 2023 points. Why? It doesn’t make sense to give a rival a top end pick for slightly more points for bid matching. Also they will trade several players that will get most of the replacement points for pick 4. So they only want the deal that gives them the best future asset. The deal probably also makes up the shortfall in 2023 but that will be something like a mid second round pick only. I am going to post this every morning until the draft as the other thing is they won’t trade pick 4 until draft night begins as a live trade to avoid the list spots restriction. It will become as incessant as trade radio install a Rheem!

Correct.

The facts are - Friday was in at the club to discuss, Saturday came and toured the facilities, Monday returned and they ironed out the contract, cap space, front loading, etc. He liked it.

Whether he then used this to go leverage further at the Dons obviously is the unknown, and if he did, well good riddance anyway. Couldn't imagine viewing the back half of last year, getting similar offers from both teams, well above your pay grade, and choosing Essendon as your destination of choice moving forward, playing under a coach who didn't overly like you when you were younger. If you would prefer to replace Zurk-Thatcher in a terrible backline as opposed to pairing with Sicily, then I don't really know what to tell ya.

But hey, I didn't expect Liam Henry to go to the Saints either.

Not a new account on here, never had one, but decided to get involved this year. Have not used these forums in the past either. My brother is actually in these threads, saw he has a very reputable account, maybe he'll take note of who I am. Not looking for praise if I get it right, just thought I'd share what has come across my table with fellow Hawks enthusiasts.

If its a 7 year deal even if its a Yes for us, ill be pissed. Even 6 is a stretch!

Those type of contracts should only be used on the Buddy types, not a KPD who has won a total of 8 games
