We had the best deal in front of him. Nothing eventuated.
His manager is a Bomber.
I think it's safe to say that they just wanted Essendon to raise their offer.

I knew there was more to the dangling of the carrot. Ramanauskas wants to get him to Essendon. Whole situation is turning farcical IMO. He's not coming for the right reasons if he does so I'm not losing any sleep over this. Holding the club to ransom. Dodo can have him just like he got Irving Mosquito. Turned out brilliantly for them. You have to respect the manager, getting the absolute best deal for his client
Probably been mentioned here already but McKay's also an ex Bomber's fan.We had the best deal in front of him. Nothing eventuated.

TylerDurden didn’t need to write that Dons have won the race either! but he did, so it’s only natural that people are gonna ask how he knows!TylerDurden doesn't need to give a source.

I think we start working on 2024 trade period now if we haven’t already and forget this one there’s not much to be had apart from the suns pick. None of the players linked are world beaters so we have another year of development find more mid time for Ward CMac and Frenchy and draft in Duursma McKercher McCabe and Jiath.
Back in the day, that eesdn flog, Carlisle was shopping himself around and it was between us and Carlolton but from someone very close to him, I found out that all Jake wanted was a high payday! A few weeks later, the Saints paid up a wee bit more and after playing all three clubs off one and another, he chose saints in the end anyway. And as we know, how great his career panned out to be? Potato with good coin. Ben situation reminds me of that.
Agree with this general sentiment. I do however think this charade has gone on a bit long, especially considering the absurdity of the coin on offer.I do love when people judge footy players for trying to extract the most remuneration they can from clubs when those people would do the exact same thing if multiple employers were vying for their services. Clubs will put the best interests of the club before players also - why are players evil to do the same thing for themselves?

You’d hope though that while money is a signifiant factor, it’s also very much about culture / system / winning. At HFC, we’re blessed that our players make sacrifices for each other and the group.
While I think McKay would be a great addition, I haven’t been totally enamoured with the way him and management have gone about this. Would prefer a lesser quality player that bleeds brown and gold.

Someone check the IP address. As for now - we have landed McKay. Things can change on a dime, but two different reputable sources are stating he's ours.
Additionally, in coming weeks or throughout the silly season, if you encounter stories regarding Oscar Allen, just know we are interested - yes, a Perth boy, but uninterested in staying at WCE and wants out. This doesn't mean he will get to leave, given he's under contract and WCE would most likely never part with him, but if enough is dangled, I'm guessing it can be done, but would have to be a monstrous offer. Once again, just whispers, nothing set in stone, but he wants out and I am getting told he doesn't mind the Hawks, but we are legitimately trying here irrespective of how out of reach it is.
Kosi leaving is perfect. Get picks back for McCabe, it's all we need, even if it's a shitty pick. Wasn't in our next team pushing for finals.
In any case, our absolute best haul this year needs to have both McKay and Chol involved (including pick 4 attached to it).
If McKay does follow through, and Chol declares us, we need to probably dangle a decent pick in front of GCS, maybe in the form of that future 1st people have been mentioning.
This would give us: Pick 3, Pick 4, First Rounder Matched (McCabe), McKay (KD), Chol (KF, 2nd Ruck).
That is an almighty haul, one that is quite farfetched, but honestly not out of reach. Go well Mitchell & McKenzie.
Go Hawks
That’s valid and I respect thatThing is we honestly don’t know how McKay and his management are handling this. The press write about it daily to remain relevant and drive up engagement. It’s probably a very normal negotiation that gets ramped up because the otherwise unemployable AFL media have to talk about something to sell Continental tyres.
That’s valid and I respect that
But McKay could end any speculation with finally picking a club… of course, can’t fully blame him while the offers keep trending upwards…
#fakescooperToo many paragraphs and correct spelling to be a scooper.
