West Coast won’t do that deal.Think you’ll find it will be pick 3, pick 30, Brockman and DGB for pick 1 with later pick coming back.

That I agreeThink you’ll find it will be pick 3, pick 30, Brockman and DGB for pick 1 with later pick coming back.
We’ll make them.West Coast won’t do that deal.
For who? Us it’s a snap their hand off dealGood deal.
1. 20% discount for bid matching
2. Bids will be matched by around 3 picks each time (more for early bids less for later). One pick is added and 3 picks removed for the match so net -2 hence 54 becomes 52 if all those picks are before 54. 3 academy and 2 FS in top 25 so roughly 5 x -2 = -10 pick 54 becomes 44.
It’s an approximate of course but you get the point.
Yes it’s a difficult system and highly convoluted and compromised. But working within it getting late picks in a highly compromised draft is smart moneyballing. This is what people forget. Early picks get pushed out by matching clubs jumping the queue.
Late picks come forward as multiple picks are brought forward by matched picks disappearing.
Interesting question couldn’t cement a spot, going for greater opportunity, on about 500k a year for 4/5 years sounds familiar. Hopefully a future fourth!Wonder what Fisher would cost North?
That's probably fair for both parties, and if anything skewed slightly towards the Eagles, depending on the pick coming back.Think you’ll find it will be pick 3, pick 30, Brockman and DGB for pick 1 with later pick coming back.

To those who say the Eagles wouldn't do it, I'd ask why not?
It is a flawed assumption to think they might value pick 1 as much as we might.
They probably don't because Harley Reid represents a bigger flight risk to them than us, and as such, reduces his value (to them).
The better way to view this is how beneficial is the trade to the Eagles achieving their goals, in order to guess whether they might accept or reject.
If for instance, their main goal IS to secure Curtin, then they get their man (probably), as well as collecting two best 22 players and a 2nd round pick.
How is that not a good deal for them?
For us, Brockman was gone anyway, the second rounder is a fair price to pay and the bit of pain in the transaction is the loss of DGB who may develop into a good player, but equally, may not.
Yes you're right.
This conspiracy garbage that Cal is trying to inflate the value of Dear, etc, is absolutely laughable. If anyone thinks it has any influence on list managers then they need to have a word with themselves. Utter nonsense.
Think you’ll find it will be pick 3, pick 30, Brockman and DGB for pick 1 with later pick coming back.
The article above suggests that pick 42 is on offer but Carlton will want more.Wonder what Fisher would cost North?
I like the bit in the article where Twomey and Beveridge mention:Let me guess what it says:
Hawthorn going for Geelongs pick 7, Gold Coasts Pick 4, to get West Coasts Pick 1
Eagles want Pick 1 and they want Harley Reid.West Coast won’t do that deal.
It would be a good deal for both parties, but we won't be able to compete with North if they really want Reid, especially if they get pick 3. Ultimately that gives them the trump card of holding picks 2&3 which they can exchange for pick 1. That exact deal won't happen, but the ability to split one of those picks and throw in another of their other late first rounders is simply bargaining power that we can't hope to match.Think you’ll find it will be pick 3, pick 30, Brockman and DGB for pick 1 with later pick coming back.
I really don’t think they want to take Harley.Eagles want Pick 1 and they want Harley Reid.
It’s all public posturing.
Curtin is the logic WA choice people are making.
It’s going to take a godfather offer for Eagles even to accept it.
He's more of a drive risk. He's already stated he's afraid of flying. Something as a footballer he'll have to get over.I really don’t think they want to take Harley.
There’s been a belief amongst AFL clubs all year that he is a flight risk if he goes to WA.
