Except ours doesn't guarantee Curtain.
If North have a single top pick in 2 and they pick Curtin, won't find bigger fools. It is a comfortable risk for Eagles to bear.

North are expected to give up 2 or 3 for 8+F1( or pick 13 which would be Gresham compo the Saints will trade for Shiels). I still have my doubts but unless AFL step in and stop Dodo, North will get arm twisted. Or North have to be happy with Pick 19 as compo.

Essendon are gunning for pick 2 and then hoping they can trade 2+f1 for pick 1. Unlikely they are going to threaten picking Curtin given they have McKay.

Lots of water to flow under that bridge. Watch Dodo drag this out.

Is this verified? Means we miss out on Duursma if so.
This is based on some pie-in-the-sky trade proposal floated a few days ago. Clear draft tampering and would be surprised if AFL let it go. But we are talking AFL here, so ......

How about this hypothetical:

F1 and Worpel to Geelong

Pick 7 and Geelong F1 to Hawthorn

Pick 3, 7 and Brockman to West Coast

Reid, picks 41 and 55 (which Eagles won't use) to Hawthorn

Hawks lose Worpel, pick 3 and F1. Gain Reid, Geelong F1 and two picks for McCabe bid.

If nothing else, it would make for good theatre with Hawthorn/Geelong death riding each other next year!

North still don't have pick 3... When they have it it will be handed over to Dodo... Hence the delay in filing McKay's FA contract papers.

Now will Eagles accept 2+9(Ess) for pick 1 is the Question. If they consider that, then our 3+F1 is the better deal.
Well no.....

I'm usually pretty conservative in my trade expectations, but I still have a gut feel Smith is in play this coming week.

No idea why.

I reckon we are done.

In Chol and Mass
Out Kosi and Brocky

Will be lots of chatter about pick 1 but at the end of the day won’t be involved. I think Rob hinted at that when he said “we are interested in having a chat as long as it doesn’t do any damage to what we are building”

Might be some later pick swaps to help with points etc but can’t see anymore players coming in.

Bailey Smith English or JUH will be available next year as the squeeze for cash will be on big time.

I reckon this is most likely, even though I would love Reid it seems unlikely.

Extend some of our middle tier players and give them some extra coin next year, go hard next year.

Only reason I think we’d be doing any more deals would be to move our F1 to this year if a player/pick becomes available. Probably a boring trade period for us, which is ok.

I have no idea why Mackenzie's name is being dragged into discussions
We were massive on him last year and the thought was he would've been taken with our first selection (above Ginbey) had he still been on the board. So a lot of work was put into analysing him in 2022 by our list management.

Agree 100%
would have liked to jagged another player or so to fill some of the holes, but also happy to use our pick in the draft.
Hopefully next season we can pull something special off and get a big name in

I liked the old thread title better.
News this morning is we've told WC certain of our players are off the table - Lewis, Nash, Mackenzie, Weddle, Day, Newk, CMac & Ward (who is highly regarded despite what many supporters think of him). So you all can stop thinking up trades including one of them :)
That doesn't leave many which is why I don't think WC will deal with us.

It does leave guys like Scrimshaw, Mitchell, CJ & Worpel so you never know.
Worpel has also had some interest from Geelong recently.

Everyone ready for the fun and games this week? :mask:
Bye Sicily :(

Reid would be superb but West Coast will have better offers than our pick 3 and next years first on the table and I can’t see us attaching a player to turn the dial enough.

Kangas in the box seat. The fact they have been to Perth to meet Curtin will show us if west coast are all bluff here.

If the Eagles really want Curtin the Kangas hand over pick 2, 19 and 20.

Kangas take Reid and then also have pick 3 which is an unbelievable draft hand for losing Ben Mckay when you think about it.

Eagles get their man Curtin and two decent players with 19 and 20 attached.

This seems likely. I haven't been keeping up, what is the current mail on what the likely outcome will be with Chol?
