I haven't seen many proposed trades so here is my one.

Wondering if we could pull off our own Mega Trade and get 4 round one picks plus McCabe. Seems like a pipedream but looks possible if we are flexible on which players we want at the pointy end of the draft and McCabe won't go before 15.

  • Trade 3 and 29 to Melbourne for 5 and 13
  • Trade Future First plus 38 (WC Brockman plus 49) and 45 (Richmond) to Gold Coast for 4 and player ie Chol
  • Buy Nick Haynes contract for pick 15

That gives us 4,5, 13 and 15. Plus a player

Alternatively, if 15 is too risky with McCabe:

  • we could offer GWS pick 13 plus Haynes contract and get 6. That would mean 4,5 & 6 and a player.
  • or keep the 4,5,13 and trade 15 for a future first to get back into the first-round next year. pick 13 could also pick up another first rounder next year.

Clayton Oliver available from what I hear

Unsure if spoken of in here, but chances are we hold onto Fergus, but most likely depends on Chol.

He was actually delisted as of 2 weeks ago I have been told just then, but Kosi requesting the trade threw a spanner in the works obviously, hence why he wasn't named in the recent round of delistings when he should have.

Of course, the insinuation here is, he most definitely gets a contract if we miss out on Chol (or someone else). Maybe still has a slight chance if we get Chol, but could be deemed unlikely.

I am lost a bit on this one - I like Fergus. I think he offers a lot. I don't have the inside scoop on what goes on internally with him, whether he's not up to the standards or not and whether the delisting was a reflection of that, but I still think he can offer us a lot, particularly given we have absolutely no depth down there.

He’s a VFL standard player

Some interesting options out there for us to improve even if we don’t land players I think we should be doing everything to improve draft capital this year and next. Ports f1 I think might be about 10 think they will be on the edge of finals. I would give 29 and f2 for that in a heartbeat.
Other player mentioned in inside trading is nick coffield. Given in part he was enabled via the omeara trade if we locked him up cheap that would defray the cost and hopefully end the periodic backwards looking melts (myself included) on reliving that trade!

Hard pass
interesting - why would you pass on a top 3 mid in the comp (and being a Ranga won't work as an excuse)

I love how he plays the game - a bit of a knob but you have to be sometimes. I mean I think we have an amazing midfield group that will grow together into a formidable unit so I don't think we need him (not like Naughton who would be such an important get if possible)

But I am interested in your use of the word "hard" here.

hahahaha most of us have moved on fairly easily from the O'Meara trade - as I keep telling people if you are getting that worked up about this stuff you need to find other hobbies or try a girlfriend or something

I wonder if this ties in with the rumours Dees are planning something big for this trade period.
If they are hell bent on getting Harley Reid then an offer of Clayton and a pick might work - alternatively they could trade Clayton to Norf for pick 2 and then trade 2 and their other first rounder for 1

He called on Melbourne young gun Clayton Oliver as a crucial cog who needs to solve his kicking issues, or he risks becoming a liability to the side.

“He was an elite player two years ago, but he’s not an elite player at the moment, Clayton Oliver,” Riewoldt said.

He’s the eighth-worst kick in the competition and he’s almost become a liability when he’s using the ball by foot. He’s got to go to work now on his own game, and try and complement his great strengths.

And we have a crack at Worp's disposal efficiency. We also have enough mids and developing mids.

There's a fair bit of talk that he's a flog of a bloke
You can take the boy out of Mooroopna, but you can’t take Mooroopna out of the boy.
