Or they are smart enough to move players on who have value before it’s too late.
They're in the window and he's a key component (assuming all well). They'd be negligent to trade him to invest in the future. Not to mention what their fans would do when they find out.

Their time is now.

Dees would be absolutely mad to trade Oliver. He's the best contested midfielder in the league.

Their window exists with Petracca, Oliver and Gawn, and the latter has only got a few years left.

Question raised because Melbourne's midfield group had statistically been stronger without Oliver during his 10-week injury.

You don’t pass up on Oliver
He is who you hope your midfielders can turn into.

I don’t think people would pass on Oliver. I think people are passing on what you’d need to give up. No from me - our contested mids don’t need further stock in that age range.

Draft capital should be going towards the pointy ends, as we all know.

Pretty skeptical of the rumour, would have to be something very bad for them to jettison what is a key pillar back to premiership success.

Clearly he’s back on the chicken nuggies.

interesting - why would you pass on a top 3 mid in the comp (and being a Ranga won't work as an excuse)

I love how he plays the game - a bit of a knob but you have to be sometimes. I mean I think we have an amazing midfield group that will grow together into a formidable unit so I don't think we need him (not like Naughton who would be such an important get if possible)

But I am interested in your use of the word "hard" here.
The guy just errrks me! I do not like how he conducts himself! I can’t quite put my finger on it to explain it more!

I think Naughton depends on his relationship with Bevo. Never know.

King? I’m sure he wants to leave that soulless hole. I don’t think Hardwick going there is will change much.
Gold Coast will be the team to jump from outside the 8 to play finals. Really can’t see King wanting to leave when they are on the verge of breaking through.

Our season could either way next year, a few key injuries and 6 wins could pull us up

That would bring some much needed interest to a trade period that so far is only about watching how extra dumb can Norf and the Suns be…
“The Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period will commence on Monday, October 9 at 9am. Clubs will have until 7.30pm Wednesday, October 18 to trade players.”

NB: not a single trade has actually happened, and won’t happen for at least another 10 days.

If Dees are shopping Clarry it's only because he has a degenerative injury or to do with off field antics.

Buyer beware.
Yeah it’s definitely not like they have an abundance of players to take his spot ( Bradshaw one more concussion and it’s curtains) If they are truely shopping him around there is a major issue at hand.

Chol anyone?

Hawthorn is the club which has shown the most early interest in Mabior Chol ahead of North Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane.
The Hawks are desperate to find another key position forward who can play ruck after the departure of Jacob Koschitzke to Richmond.

Chol is due around $425,000 a season for two more years but given the interest clubs might have to offer him three or even four seasons to secure his services.

Adelaide will likely find the price too high and the Roos’ interest is so far modest.

But while Chol’s efforts can fluctuate midgame he did kick 44 goals in 2022.

He would likely be available for a future second-rounder given the Suns have solved their cap issues but would get his deal off their books.
