We need good strong forwards going ahead. We were one of the lowest scoring teams last season, even with Max kicking over 50 goals. We had little or inconsistent input from flankers and crumbers. It was pretty obvious last week against Freo, and thankfully we played well defensively. Don't know who is out there in that category that we could go after.
I tend to think the league would lean on Port to offer something palatable for the sake of avoiding bad press.Nah, you can't be requesting different contracts from different clubs under this set up.
Would be as simple as this -
Nas wants to leave to go to SA.
Manager puts out contract requirements say 4 years, 2.8mil total.
Now both the Crows and Power can look at their list and their trade assets, and put forward offers to the club player X is leaving. If one club declines then the other gets a bargain, but it at least opens the door for a potential bidding war.
Imagine the fill up the Giants could have had with Taranto and Hopper last year if every Vic club could table trade offers? How quickly to they get to rebuild then after losing 2/3 of their starting midfield. Geelong, Collingwood, Essendon, St Kilda... Maybe even the Dogs after losing Dunkley... Would have been huge.
You can't tell me that Adelaide wouldn't look to rework their cap and list build and throw in a trade offer for Nas if the option was there?
As it stands though, he will nominate Port and we will have to cop whatever they put on the table, effectively making him a 20yo FA.
I just hate the idea that we're going to have to settle for something thats probably unders for Nas. I'm not hot on Sinn, nor was I in his draft year and I probably don't know enough about Bergman. Given the recent history of first rounders heading home after 2 years, you'd think we're in play for a first round pick.Georgiades would possibly get them enough for Pickett but they'd then need to trade out again to get Nas. I doubt he's their number one priority so might struggle to get anything meaningful out of it if they spend the whole trade period trying to get Pickett over the line. We need to hope Pickett signs up with the Dees.
Not sure trading Georgiades for Nas would be popular with their fans. I reckon Sinn or if Berg wants out is probably our best hope.

I reckon we take Sinn and Berg, giving them Nas and a future 1st to pay for Kosi. Bend them over on some later picks and everyone wins.Georgiades would possibly get them enough for Pickett but they'd then need to trade out again to get Nas. Having the reputation for rolling over is never good under any circumstances.I would just consider the club's reputation. It might help us with other players in the future if despite leaving, NWM only has good things to say about St Kilda. From all reports the club isn't the issue here, other than it's location.
Feckless poster...how very dare youI tend to think the league would lean on Port to offer something palatable for the sake of avoiding bad press.
Like that feckless poster before I'm extremely unsympathetic towards Nas here. It's not like he's not getting opportunity or the club is a toxic place. They've hired an indigenous care officer, drafted some of his mates, have a good group of indigenous players, and have no doubt offered him a tasty contract, and is only a 30min flight from home. If he's not happy with that then he's a pissweak entitled little nancy boy.
Every player from the northern half of the country moves south to play out their dream so l don't buy the cultural or family argument for 1 second.
If he hasn't signed at the bye tgen he should be in VFL for the rest of the season or send him home.
I would be pretty dirty paying up a future first if Sinn isn’t showing a whole lot by seasons end.I reckon we take Sinn and Berg, giving them Nas and a future 1st to pay for Kosi. Bend them over on some later picks and everyone wins.

Yeah maybe, but I didn't exactly mean that to be set in concrete. The point was that there is enough to work with and get a deal done with Port who are apparently more interested in Kosi according to our ITK's. Depending on finishing positions I think that deal would be around the mark with a 2nd and/or 3rd changing hands too.I would be pretty dirty paying up a future first if Sinn isn’t showing a whole lot by seasons end.
As it stands. Future second for me
Kosi Pickett is looking very likely to re-sign at MelbourneYeah maybe, but I didn't exactly mean that to be set in concrete. Not reallyThat's part of the problem. Port have nothing to trade with, no 2023 first round pick and wanting Kosi Pickett. Nas is lower priority to them. If he nominates Port we are ****ed unless they let us take a player like Bergman we are going to have to settle for a 2024 second round pick or something. Looking like a Jamie Cripps situation at this point.
I think we have to hope like hell that we can talk him round. Has all the hallmarks of putting 2 years into a player for someone else to get the benefits from.
We should be courting Bergman now just in case. They might let Sinn walk if he stays injured otherwise.
Sinn and Berg for NAS?I reckon we take Sinn and Berg, giving them Nas and a future 1st to pay for Kosi. Bend them over on some later picks and everyone wins.
Maybe he is, but still not really my point...Kosi Pickett is looking very likely to re-sign at Melbourne
didn't think sinn looked too flash in his draft year, and he's played 1 game since being drafted? future second if they're luckyI would be pretty dirty paying up a future first if Sinn isn’t showing a whole lot by seasons end.

Try reading past the first comma.Sinn and Berg for NAS?
Think we’d have to give them something else
Bergman and NWM would be of similar value
Sinn probably worth a mid second now I reckon
Means he won’t be attainable.Maybe he is, but still not really my point...
thereby reinforcing my original statement...Means he won’t be attainable.
Means Nas will be the hottest prospect available to SA clubs…
Bergman should be our priority target if we are to lose NWM to Port. Sinn is not as versatile and we have plently of HBF on the list. Bergman is more advanced, but if we could get Sinn as a 2nd rounder that would be good. Another to consider is Sam Hayes (ruckman) as an add on in a trade if that were to occur. Who knows the Crows might be really keen but they do have a number of similiar players to NWM, so it will more likely be Port if he departs.I would be pretty dirty paying up a future first if Sinn isn’t showing a whole lot by seasons end.

Sorry boss, was a bit confusing. Thought Port were paying for Pickett with their future firstTry reading past the first comma.
My point is the same as yours mate.thereby reinforcing my original statement...
Agree with this. Bergman is the man we should be throwing the kitchen sink.Bergman should be our priority target if we are to lose NWM to Port. Like Lethlean suggested we need to sell the bayside area to these ex bayside lads and start bringing them home.

I imagine it will depend on their contract situations. I think Sinn is out of contract at seasons end and Im not sure on Bergman. If NWM leaves I doubt Port would give up both, but I would be happy with either Bergman or Sinn plus a back up ruckman Hayes or Visentini. Sinn is more one sided but probably could play more of a physical role than NWM ever will and has a good burst from stoppages.I think….
Come years end. NWM will be a very good player.
Good enough that we should be asking for Sinn and Bergman and still be annoyed he left.
Bergman might be a very good player too the way he is trackingI think….
