I guess that would have been done by Tarkyn Lockyer (AFL Academy coach) and Keven Sheahan with input by the state coaches trying to balance the teams up talent wise.

Who cares, all the live ppl we had available to us will still b the set thats available anyhow. The other only problem with moving picks is where you need points for a bid and your picks lose those points.

How do you work that out, if GWS get end of 1st round picks for Cumming and Perryman, same with Battle etc that will put them ahead of us in the order when picking.

The whole free agency and the clubs not need to trade for players after a set number of years creates much of this problem. Why shouldn't a club have to compensate the league or the old club for recruiting a player in?

Why should a club get prime compensation for not convincing a player to stay?

But they do get compensation, the issue is right now the AFL inserts a pick between rounds or picks.

Take Battle, why should St Kilda get pick 8 and Hawthorn pay nothing?

We aren't.

I'm suggesting that clubs are over compensated.

Compo picks should be end of second round onwards. That's the only way to avoid nonsense like the McKay / McDonald situations.

Yeah I'm saying that too, the burden of a free agent shouldn't be on the clubs that don't get player.

There needs a change.

I propose giving the club draft points which they can sell, but not giving them picks directly. Ie they can sell the points to other clubs that can use it when they have a fs or nga prospect

Right now every other club effectively pays for the trade

There shouldn’t be any compensation, its not free agency when every team then plays a price by having draft picks moved back.

Yes have been watching, ball pinging around a lot, mix of good and bad skill. Open game, minimal contestested. Cumming been decent from North, Greeves, Burton also for Heppell whilst Sloane Addinsal, Uwland, Hibbins-Hargreaves not bad.

Sharp prob quiet by his standards so far though heavily rotated mid/fwd.

Some nice talls about in the next crop.

Beau Addinsall (Suns Academy) clearly the standout in the 1st half, Cooper Duff-Tytler dominant in the ruck and Zeke Uwland (Suns Academy) as usual prolific.

Dyson Sharp hasn't done much as yet.

Several Northern Academy prospects shone in the Marsh AFL National Futures curtain-raiser ahead of the Grand Final

NORTHERN Academy prospects Dan Annable, Beau Addinsall and Zeke Uwland proved their 2025 draft credentials with exciting showings in the Marsh AFL National Futures curtain-raiser at the MCG.

The annual under-17s clash on Grand Final morning featuring players eligible for the 2025 draft saw players from across the country split into teams named after retired stars Dyson Heppell and Rory Sloane

And it was the Heppell side that came away with the win, kicking the last five goals of the game to clinch a seven-point victory.
Annable is tied to Brisbane's Academy and collected 27 disposals and five inside-50s for the Heppell team, while fellow midfielder Ollie Greeves was important with 31 touches and seven marks.

Tom Burton (26 disposals) also produced some eye-catching moments and Sam Cumming was in everything with 24 disposals, 11 tackles and a goal. West Australian prospect Charlie Banfield kicked three goals while Josh Lindsay, who had 20 disposals, was awarded the best player for his team.

A late goal to exciting tall forward prospect Archie Ludowyke capped the comeback, while the versatility of Willem Duursma again shone with 20 touches and eight marks.
Addinsall, a member of Gold Coast's Academy, had a game-high 34 disposals for the Sloane team, while Uwland, also headed to the Suns through their Academy where his brother Bodhi had a breakout season, kicked two goals from 22 disposals in a typically polished display. Addinsall was named his team's best player.

Midfielder Jack Dalton had 21 disposals and kicked 1.2, Riley Onley had 20 disposals and kicked a goal and very promising tall Cooper Duff-Tytler collected 13 disposals and 10 hit-outs.

I’m pretty sure pick 25 gets you the 25th pick in the open draft. Regardless of academy and f/s picks.
