Can’t let Ashcroft slide

They can give pick 8 to us for our f1 and get a gun mid at next years draftTwomey late mail draft is a disaster for Saints. First 7 picks being midfielders.
Either trade up or back/out if you’re the Saints.
Agree and if my Lions needed more midfield depth, would have loved to snare Roberts.Love Roberts as a Bomber. Silk
Crows did with Ugle-HagenPlus theres a marketing aspect to having pick 1. Exciting for fans and builds hope. Why hand that to another club for no gain?
I look at that and you see Tauru at P12 and think. If North (assuming they are actually hot on him) would have to be on that phone to Melbourne trying to do a deal.Decided to have one last crack of my predicted first round of the draft for tonight and change up a couple of spots up according to what experts are now thinking and have late-mail on:
Pick 1 - Sam Lalor (Richmond)
Pick 2 - Finn O’Sullivan (North Melbourne)
Pick 3 - Levi Ashcroft (Brisbane)*
Pick 4 - Jagga Smith (Carlton)
Pick 5 - Sid Draper (Adelaide)
Pick 6 - Harvey Langford (Melbourne)
Pick 7 - Josh Smilie (Richmond)
Pick 8 - Leo Lombard (Gold Coast)^
Pick 9 - Issac Kako (Essendon)^
Pick 10 - Tobie Travaglia (St. Kilda)
Pick 11 - Xavier Lindsay (St. Kilda)
Pick 12 - Alix Taura (Melbourne)
Pick 13 - Jobe Shanahan (Richmond)
Pick 14 - Bo Allen (Richmond)
Pick 15 - Taj Hotton (West Coast)
Pick 16 - Harry Armstrong (Port Adelaide)
Pick 17 - Jack Whitlock (Fremantle)
Pick 18 - Murphy Reid (GWS)
Pick 19 - Joe Berry (GWS)
Pick 20 - Jesse Dattoli (Western Bulldogs)
Pick 21 - Alex Dodson (Richmond)
Pick 22 - Sam Marshall (Brisbane)^
Pick 23 - Matthew Whitlock (Sydney)
Pick 24 - Jonty Faull (Richmond)
Pick 25 - Ollie Hannaford (GWS)
Pick 26 - Ned Bowman (Sydney)
Pick 27 - Harrison Oliver (Richmond)
And what would your thoughts be on trading that pick for Norths F!?I look at that and you see Tauru at P12 and think. If North (assuming they are actually hot on him) would have to be on that phone to Melbourne trying to do a deal.

Think that's what I'm thinking too but then at the same time, maybe he could replace May in 2-3 years time with Lever being the number 1 KPD at the club.I look at that and you see Tauru at P12 and think. Depends on what Melbourne think of the upcoming talent in the draft next year as I really don't know much about the 2025 crop other than the Lions academy player in Annable being a first round calculation for us.And what would your thoughts be on trading that pick for Norths F!?
Ugle-Hagen was the clear number one, Levi is not, nor was Daicos, while Giants traded up specifically for Cadman so can understand why they didn't bid on Will. Daicos should have been bid on at 2 though.Crows did with Ugle-Hagen
What's your knock on Armstrong?Said on here months ago I rate Jack Whitlock high and not that keen on Armstrong. Interesting to see that will likely come true tonight
Richmond's flags were built on a 35 year rebuild. It had to work eventually.
i think we will target tigers pick 10/11I look at that and you see Tauru at P12 and think. If North (assuming they are actually hot on him) would have to be on that phone to Melbourne trying to do a deal.
Agreed. I never said they'd like the reply. I assume it would be multiple futures. It's academic anyway, because we didn't go the the effort to trade a small fortune ourselves to get into the top 10 this year just to trade out. What do North have to offer Dees at that pick? It’s hardly likely there F1 will be better than the Dees F1 which is what they used to actually get that pick.

What I will say though is North Melbourne definitely needs to invest in more young players outside of the midfield and if they can find a way to get back into the draft to nab Taura tonight, would do that in a heartbeat.
we will be targeting the tigers picks after yours to grab a KPPDees will just take him, we gave up pick 28 and a F1 (plus later picks) for that pick 9 originally.
Why would we do all that to just trade out for Norths F1 which may end up being worse than ours anyway.
i think we will target tigers pick 10/11
more than happy tonah we are good thanks
You keep your picks, and we will keep ours
Win/Win
more than happy to
My hope is we take Lindsay if he gets past the saints, if he's gone then Bo Allan would be my choice.Andy_Mac, what do you think of Murphy Reid instead of Taura if you kept your second 1RD pick though?
Heard that he was a flight risk to interstate clubs by some so maybe that could be a selection for your mob or Richmond later on in the first round but settled on GWS given they are choosing best avaliable.
It'd have to be multiple futures. We paid a lot to trade the pick in, so if we were going to sell it off, we'd want a decent return. If he gets through us, which based on the commentary about our interest at 5 is unlikely, Richmond would have to look at you F1 on it own.And what would your thoughts be on trading that pick for Norths F!?
The strategic advantage I would use if I was Richmond would be taking Ashcroft at #1 purely to take the pressure off Lalor of being the #1 pick, however the marketing department will want to use the title to sell memberships/sponsorships.Forgive me if this has already been discussed but what is the strategic advantage for any club bidding on Ashcroft
